Before I could stop myself, I blurted out, “Rusty, be honest with me. Am I likable?”
Rusty pulled off his headphones, turning around in his chair with a confused expression. “What?”
“You heard me,” I said, sitting up and leaning against the wall. “Do people... like me?”
He snorted, shaking his head. “Evans, of course people like you. What’s not to like? You’re smart, you’re funny—well, sometimes—you’re decent-looking—”
“*Decent-looking?*” I interrupted, raising an eyebrow.
“Alright, fine,” he conceded with a smirk. “You’re a solid nine out of ten, but don’t let it go to your head. You’re still an arrogant prick half the time, but somehow, people like you anyway.”
