Eighteen years ago….. Kaleb Luthor hurried on. He was on an errand for his father, walking down the gravel path that cut from his house when his eyes caught something. He stopped and stared for a moment. It was his sister's friend, Sasha. Sasha Sullivan. She was hanging upside down from an old tree, her skinned knees hooked over a low thick branch. She was swinging back and forth, so her long braids dangled like ropes. The whole time she hummed while she blew the biggest pink bubble he had ever seen. He didn't know you could hum and blow bubble gum at the same time. As he walked past her, there was a loud pop.

Her facial expression suddenly turned serious, as if she was about to share her innermost secret with me. "And who would that be?" I narrowed my eyes. "My older brother, Jacob," she said quietly. Hmm...I remembered Alison mentioning her older brother who went to school out of state and occasionally visited on vacation. He was supposedly five years older than her and happened to be extremely protective of his sister. Which means I'd have to work extra hard to turn my charm on, so I don't come home with broken bones. "Should I be worried? I mean...you said he was nice, right?" I asked. Don't tell me he is secretly an underground cage fighter!"

I spent the whole weekend in New York drinking alone. I was surprised, depressed and lost, after knowing Fai and Damian are brothers. I feel like there's no way to turn back and start from the beginning again. All my plans fell apart. I can say Damian is a good man and I am sure he won’t go back to me when he knows I am with his brother, Fai. Now, I don’t know what I should do? End my game with Fai and pursue Damian or continue the plan since I need more information about Damian, Anna and others.

I wanted to say something — anything — to cut through the silence, to reach whatever part of Alex that was still human beneath the fury that had taken over back there. He didn’t look at me when he spoke. “You’re thinking about what Ethan said.” I didn’t respond. He continued anyway, voice flat and razor-sharp. “Forget it.” I turned to him, my voice low. “Who’s Lisa?” “She is no one and nothing that concerns you for now”. “Alex—” “I said forget it.” I clenched my fists in my lap. “You don’t get to demand silence when I’m the one being dragged through this blind. If there’s something I should know—”

I switched my phone to speaker mode, hoping Lucian would hear the zombies’ growls outside. Lucian not only ignored it, but his voice also turned cold. “Eira, if you keep acting this way, we should call off the engagement.” Hearing this, a chill ran through my body. We had been childhood sweethearts, but after Liana appeared, not only Castiel, but even Lucian changed. Just because Liana wanted to bathe, Castiel and Lucian led a group on an expedition to find clean water. But in the apocalypse, water was the most precious resource.

One from Shawna, the other from an unknown number. I opened the second one. ~Lily. This is Amelia. We need to talk. I’m in the city. Uncle Leon told me everything.~ It’s been six months since I last saw my sister. She had moved to the other side of the country to pursue her nursing career. We had discussed mom’s hospital bill the last time she called. I stared at the message. I typed back ~Where are you?~ She replied in seconds. ~Astoria.The hotel downtown.~

Amelie smirked, looking at the bathroom door. Nathan raised his eyebrow and nodded with approval. Amelie smacked his chest. “Don’t encourage him,” she said, rolling her eyes, and headed down the stairs. “You’re not going to give me a lecture, are you?” I asked. “Nope, you don’t even want to know the places Amelie and I have done it,” Nathan chuckled. “Ew, that’s my sister you're talking about,” I grimaced. “And I’m your brother,” Nathan chuckled.

I’d focused so much on Lunera Beauty assuming I’d never have to get involved in the heavy politics of Pack. I was in over my head here. Shit. Before I could process the full implications of this revelation, my phone buzzed. I hesitated before answering, but I couldn’t avoid this conversation forever. “Mom?” “Olivia, what’s going on with you and Alpha Ethan? Isn’t he Aiden’s brother?” Her voice was laced with worry, and I knew she’d seen the news. She wasted no time getting right to it. I took a deep breath. “Yes, he’s Aiden’s brother.” My eyes flicked to the Alpha in question.

Before she realized what she was doing, she leaned in and pressed a kiss to that spot. Though Jason had remained distant and calm, Heather noticed a blush creeping into his ears after her unexpected gesture. A wicked delight bubbled up inside her as she grinned mischievously and hugged his neck. "Your brother is out of town. Come over to my place tomorrow to help me with that painting—or else I'll go to the police. The evidence is right here in my belly."

I snapped, losing my patience with his almost intentional misunderstanding. "Watch it." His low voice warned as his eyebrow lifted at me in amusement. "The difference is that you're going around telling people we were step-siblings before this. That's not something to tell people Jack. I don't want people knowing that." I pushed as I stared up at him. His eyes narrowed at me as he lifted his lips into a slight smirk before speaking. "Why'd you fuck your stepbrother then?" He questioned as his eyebrows furrowed together. I stayed silent not really knowing what to say to that.
