Professor's Pet Chapter 1: The Punishment The lecture hall had emptied hours ago, leaving only the faint echo of departing students and the low hum of the air conditioning. Lila sat alone in the front row, her heart pounding so hard she could feel it in her throat. At twenty-one, she was a straight-A student, meticulous and careful—until tonight. The plagiarism accusation had come out of nowhere, a cruel twist that threatened everything she had worked for.

I knew little about her other than the fact that she was from the Whytecliff pack, a neighboring pack of the Redmoon, which was run by Alpha Edmond. Dean Griffin, first name Lila, was blonde with long hair that draped over her shoulders and glasses that covered most of her young-looking face. She had a petite frame, and from the small amount of times I’ve seen her, I had never seen her smile. I heard from others around the school that she never smiles. “Take a seat, Judy,” she motions for one of the seats in front of her desk. She didn’t bother looking at me; too focused on whatever was on her computer screen.

The distraction worked. Lila blinked,then let out an excited shriek. “Finally!” Emily flinched as Lila all but launched herself across the couch,grabbing Emily’s hands and shaking them with unfiltered glee.“Oh my God,Em,do you know how long I’ve been waiting for this?” Emily chuckled despite herself.“Gee,thanks.Love the support.” Lila waved a dismissive hand.“Oh,please.Mike was the worst.Self-absorbed,arrogant,and honestly?A total red flag parade.”

It had become the composure of someone who has understood that the game is over and is now simply waiting for the formalities of the ending to complete themselves. Her skin bore the map of abuse, though the bruises faded to angry purple and the scars telling stories Raven dared not imagine aloud. “You’re Raven,” Lila said without preamble, voice trembling but clear. “I heard you’re fighting them.” Raven nodded, lowering herself beside her with care. “I’m trying. Can you tell me what you know?" Lila’s hands trembled as she clasped and unclasped them, struggling for the words. “It started when I was seventeen. I thought the job was just... work. Dancing and parties, but then it turned. The whispers became screams and the men, they weren’t customers, they were hunters.”

She was stylish, clad in a modern and chic outfit, and she exuded an aura of self-assuredness. “It’s an honor to meet you, Ms. Kayla,” Lila said, shaking my hand firmly. Her voice was confident, with just a hint of excitement. I smiled, intrigued. “It’s nice to meet you too, Lila. What brings you here today?” Lila’s eyes sparkled as she spoke. “I recently attended one of Raven Media’s performance and media workshops, and I heard that you’re the one who can help people make it big. I want to become a famous singer like Adrian, and I’m hoping you can help me get there.”

She is one of the architects who designed the hotel. Even though I only need to make an appearance for the first meeting, I ended up attending every meeting with the firm. Only for one thing. I just want to see her more. But Lila is in a relationship with a lawyer named Taylor Sandford, and she was too faithful to him back on those days. It was hard to have a talk with her out of business topic, she was focused on her work and on her ‘Taylor’. Well, back then.
