She had heard Salvatore was visiting and wanted to protect Reina. “Salvatore,” she called, her voice sharp. “Oh, Lilian. Still feisty as ever,” he said mockingly, entering the sitting room. “Why are you here? You’re deceiving my son with lies. You’ve meddled in our lives long enough!” she snapped.

Lillian’s POV. “Are you ready, ma’am?” My driver’s voice jolted me back to reality as I fumbled with the door handle. Outside this door was what I’d spent the past five years preparing for. My big reveal to the world as a new woman— not Aaron Moonstone’s mate, not Moonstone Pack’s docile Luna but as Lillian Darkfire, the woman who’s come back for what’s hers. “Of course,” I gave a clipped response. “I’ve spent the past five years dreaming for this moment.”

I felt a sudden chill run down my spine, and when I looked up, my eyes met Salvatore’s. He wasn't eating. He was leaning back in his chair, his dark, hypnotic eyes pinned directly on me. A slow, terrifying smirk cut across his handsome face. Next to him, Michael was twirling a silver knife between his fingers, looking at me like I was a mouse in a trap. "Aren't you going to eat, Lila?" Salvatore asked, his voice low, smooth, and incredibly dangerous. He pointed his fork toward my plate. "Your mother went through all that trouble to serve you. Eat."

"What video?" He looked startled as if he had leaked something he wasn't supposed to. "Well... It's not much, but..." He was stuttering, trying to find the right words to convey his feelings. Her evil smile and voice, a combination of her soft and male voice, sent shivers down my spine. “Let her go, Lillian. Take me as your sacrifice,” I said slowly and approached her cautiously. She looked at me, then Rosa, and I sighed in relief when I saw Rosa drop to the ground and cough in a lungful of air. “Jaxon, what are you doing? Get away! She’s dangerous right now!” Rosa shouted at me. I kept approaching Lillian, and knowing I was ignoring her, Rosa turned to shout at Lillian. “Lillian, he’s your fated mate! You can’t kill him!”

I asked and Lilian glared at me. “Youuu!” she whisper yelled and I chuckled, “I hate him so I thought we could bond over our hatred for him but since you don’t, that’s fine” I replied and Serena laughed quietly. “Hmph!” Lillian harrumphed as she climbed into her bed. “Alpha Jonathan saved Lilian from a group of men when she was younger. She doesn’t hate him. She owes him his life” Serena explained and I raised my eyebrow. Just how many people did Jonathan save?

And for a moment, everyone went quiet. I turned just as the doors opened again. Dominic Salvatore entered first. Alpha. Commanding. Unmistakable. At his side walked Aria Salvatore, his Luna, his wife, and lover… she was also the mother of his child. Her head was held high, her presence effortless, as if she had always belonged at his side. Whispers followed them, some admiring, some resentful. Luna Isobel’s lips thinned. “The woman who was sold as a slave,” she muttered coolly, “now standing as Head Luna. Salvador grinned, watching the trade with a glow in her heart. Lillian went to Mrs. Salvador, her demeanor conciliatory. "Goodness, Mrs. Salvador, Please accept my apologies," she said, giving a slight bow. "I'm apprehensive I was so stressed over Joanna that I failed to remember my habits. Thank you kindly for taking such great consideration of her."

Not only did she not thank me, she even wants to kill me. "Ms. Willis, how could you?" Darryl grinned as he looked at Lillian. "I was the man who saved you from danger. How could you return kindness with such hostility?" "Pooh!" Lillian exclaimed in disgust; her face reddened. "Enough with your games, you rat." Lillian pointed to the blood-drenched corpses of Earle and the others before she said, "Those people might be detestable, but they did not deserve to die. How could you be so heartless to lure them into such a miserable death? You are the definition of evil itself and a complete and total jerk."
