As Jack returned to the small room at the back of the Pour House, Jill was already awake. She was in the shower, singing to herself. Jack stopped and smiled to himself. The old lady frowned when she saw the sweat on Lily's forehead. She opened the cupboard next to Lily's bed, brought out a ceramic plate and placed it on the table next to Lily's bed.
