“It’s not pointless,” Lucas snapped. “Your father attacked us, Serena. He’s killed our people. Do you think he’s just going to stop because you ask nicely?”
“I don’t know!” I shot back, my voice rising. “But what other option do we have? Keep fighting until there’s literally no life left?”
His jaw tightened, his eyes blazing. “We’ll fight as long as we have to. That’s what we do.”
I shook my head, frustration bubbling up inside me. “And what about the people who keep dying, Lucas? What about them? Don’t they matter?”
