The book slowly slipped from my grasp, my head nodding back to rest against the headboard as I drifted off into sleep. *** The moon was full and high in the air. I ran through the woods in human form, my hair flying wildly behind me. I called up my wolf, bracing for the power of the shift when I heard the sounds of growls behind me as large paws crushed against the debris on the earth. I turned, fear and shock running, freezing my limb at the sight of the large wolf. Its form distinctly resembled that of my wolf, except for the fact that instead of my wolf’s brown eyes, its eyes were red.

Having gathered her thoughts, Anika decided that it was time to take action and interrogate him to find out what was happening. - So, now tell me, what or who are you? - the girl demanded, holding the mop at the ready like a spear. - Why did you become attached to me? Claire’s POV: After watching the wolf walk away from me, I sniffled, bringing my hand up to my face. My fingers touched wetness and I felt stunned. Why was I crying? I didn’t know. Maybe it was the fact that I had nothing else to do, or no one else - be it a human or a wolf or an inanimate object - to talk to. I sniffled again, feeling bereft. Even if it was merely for a day, I found a kindred spirit in that injured wolf.
