Lock Me Up and Leave Me to Die
"Jacob, wasn't locking me in the basement supposed to teach me obedience? Well, I've learned. I've stopped hoping for your love, so why won't you just let me go?"
Jacob looked shaken. "I didn't know they were doing that to you. I swear, I didn't know."
I lifted my shirt, revealing skin that was battered and broken. It was covered in bruises, scars, and burns from cigarette butts.
Jacob turned pale, lifting a hand to his mouth in horror.
I laughed. So, he did know how to feel fear.
"Have you ever had to fight a dog for food? And when you lost, have you ever been punished for it? Do you know what it feels like to have your tendons ripped out? It hurts like hell!"
