Lucia’s hand flies out, her fist striking his upper arm with a hard, solid thwack that rattles his shoulder.
“Do not joke about that!” she scolds, her eyes flashing.
Eli chuckles softly, stepping back and rubbing his sore bicep with a grin. “You’ve really been working on your punches. That actually stung.”
“Good,” Lucia says, stepping closer. “The next punch lands straight on your nose if you don’t promise me right now, to my face, that you will come back to me alive.”
