The Wrong Brother
I was trying not to get emotional because I wanted to be supportive, but it was hard.
"I...I still want us to be together," she said quietly.
"You know long-distance relationships don't last," I said.
"That's not true!" she cried. "They sometimes do. If you are serious about me, then it shouldn't matter where I go. Besides, nothing is set in stone yet. I am still waiting for the acceptance letter. I might not even get accepted," she said.
But I knew she would be. She was intelligent and academic. I knew I was being a selfish asshole for talking to her this way, but the thought of her being so far away from me made my heart hurt. I loved her so much.
