BETRAYED BY THE MOON
The gates buckled again, then burst open.
They poured through ,once-wolves, now nightmares. Their eyes glowed with hollow fire, chains dragging behind them, their movements jerky but unstoppable. The stench of death rolled ahead of them, choking the air.
My mark ignited, flaring hot and wild. The shadows rushed toward me, hungry, eager, as though they too had been waiting for this moment.
Darius’s voice cut through the chaos. “Amara ,”
But I didn’t wait.
The first Forsaken lunged, its jaw unhinged in a soundless scream. I raised my hand and the shadows leapt, spearing through its chest, snapping its spine like dry wood. It crumbled into ash before it touched the ground.
