The Discovery

I smiled at the strange guy before walking behind Kessler.

"He's handsome,"

"If I had known he would be attending the crescent banquet, I would have overdressed," I overheard the ladies whisper to themselves.

I looked back and noticed they were all referring to the handsome guy I just left now.

But who is he?

Why is every lady in this banquet respecting and drooling over him?

Kessler and I were busy addressing the guests while most of them were clapping their hands.

Up there, we were a happy couple but I just wished that people could see through my heart.

"Do you have anything else to say?" Kessler asked, turning to me.

I shook my head and continued smiling at our guests. When we were done, I climbed down and began hearing rumors that was when it occurred to me that people weren't interested in our speech as they were busy talking about me.

"I'm still wondering what he saw in her?"

"They look good on the stage, taking a look at them, you'd never think they ever quarreled but I just saw them having a fierce conversation with the Luna's sister earlier,"

"I wonder what's still delaying them from having their heir,"

I heaved out a heavy sigh of sadness as I overheard them. Only the mood goddess understands how I feel and how badly I want to have a child of my own, but I obviously can't make babies on my own. That's why I tried my best to look sexy for Kessler yesterday night before Elena ruined everything.

We have been together for only one year, and people are already gossiping about my inability to bear a child, thinking I'm the one at fault.

If only I could just get pregnant today then I wouldn't have to bother about Kessler again.

I didn't allow them to notice I was hearing all that they said, instead, I smiled and waved at them before walking away to the other guests.

When I was done greeting some of our guests, I decided to fill my stomach with something since I hadn't taken anything since I woke up.

I dished out a plate of salad and bacon to fill my empty stomach while I looked around seeing our guests happy.

Immediately, I moved and saw Elena's face; thoughts of what transpired last night filled my mind.

Suddenly, my chest started beating so hard like it was last night, and I felt I was going to vomit the food I ate.

I quickly placed the plate on the table to walk around a bit. Maybe the pain would ease off.

As I walked around, I thought of easier ways I could confront Kessler for betraying my love for him and Elena why she betrayed me, her own sister.

If I should approach them and they declared their relationship open, I would be more embarrassed and humiliated than I had ever been.

All the crescent pack members would start hating on me.

What if I am dethroned and Elena is crowned Luna?

Kessler and I had never had any sexual contact together so I very much suspected that he was cheating on me. I thought the person he might be cheating with was staying far away not knowing he was actually cheating on me with Elena.

I was confused about how to confront their bad attitude, Elena might turn everything against me and make me look like a bad person and might also lie that I charmed Kessler into choosing me as his mate.

Nina would definitely be useful in that aspect because that's what she's really good at. Broadcasting news about people.

When I was calm already, I turned back so I could walk back to the table to pick up my food but I was lost in thoughts that I didn't know when I missed a step.

When I noticed that I was falling, I closed my eyes tightly so the floor could receive me with open arms but none of it came anytime soon.

I opened my eyes and met with that of the stranger I met earlier.

I wonder what his name would actually look like! I thought.

"Thank you!" I said, hurriedly standing up from his soft arms.

"Why is it that I'm always around to hold you anytime you are about to fall." His soft voice came on.

I don't know what to say, I just blushed and watched him talk sweetly.

"What is making you blush stupidly?" I suddenly jerked back to reality when I heard an angry familiar voice.

I moved away from the strange guy immediately and I noticed Kessler walking towards us.

"Is there something I'm missing here?" Kessler asked angrily.

Looking at his angry face, one would think he still loved me whereas he has no hint of love for me in his heart.

"Why exactly is he mad that I'm standing behind a handsome guy? Is Elena not standing behind him?" I thought staring blankly at him.

"The people in front of me are not deaf right?" Kessler asked.

"Maybe she chose to disrespect you in front of the Lycan king." Elena interrupted.

"And who is the Lycan king?" I asked curiously.

"Oh, she does not know and she has been flirting with him all this while," Elena said.

Wait! So the handsome looking guy that has been preventing me from falling since morning is actually the Lycan king.

Now I see reasons why the ladies around here have been staring at him.

I looked at him in shock and he just nodded his head slowly. I didn't know what to say or do, I just stared at Kessler and Elena in confusion.

"So you were planning on getting acquainted with him so you could elope after the banquet not knowing he's the Lycan king!" Kessler looked at me.

I just hoped he could read my heart and see how confused I was as well.

"So you are the Lycan king we invited to our banquet?" I asked, turning to the strange guy while Kessler and Elena walked away mocking me.
