The red moon rose over the altar but tonight, I was not the Luna they expected. I stood on the stone platform in a silk dress I didn’t choose, marked for a future that wasn’t mine. The whole Bloodfang Pack had gathered, eyes gleaming like wolves in heat. My parents beamed, proud. Clueless. Because tonight, I was supposed to become Luna. Alpha Luna. But the Alpha never looked at me. He stood there, carved from shadows, cold, tall, and silent.

A mask covered their face, and as the wind blew, it showed a hint of the figure’s dark long hair before she tucked it back under her hood. Standing at the hill that overlooked the Pack house, the figure watched through binoculars, her eyes set on Luna Elodie who was in her dressing room, unaware she was being watched as she dressed for the night. The glow from the packhouse windows illuminated Luna Elodie’s delicate features, painting her in an ethereal light that would have made most hesitate. But not the figure watching from the hill.

I stand in the shade of the command tent, a satellite phone gripped in my hand, but my attention is entirely derailed. Liora is standing about thirty yards away, hunched over a large wooden spool that is currently doubling as a blueprint table. The physical labour of the morning had warmed her up, and she had shed her heavy jacket hours ago. She is wearing a fitted, olive-green Henley shirt, the sleeves pushed up to her elbows, her auburn hair tied into a messy, utilitarian knot at the crown of her head. She leans over the table to point at something on the map for Mara.

She stretched her hand over the balcony in Riven's room and tried to capture the tiny flakes that fell from the sky. Riven was busy behind her with Cade and Knox, one of the lycan warrior and they were discussing about the borders of the island and Riven's territory. Layla stared at them for a while, and then back at the snow. She wanted to see them up close. Turning around abruptly, she made her way to the large wardrobe and pulled out a pretty white hoodie. She already had a t-shirt and jean on, so she just pulled the hoodie over her shirt and pushed the hood up to cover her hair.

She paused, “Yes, it is to remind the others that you are the top, that it is mostly to show me that you want me regardless of it.” Riley’s eyes widened, for it was to show her devotion, not just to remind the others that they would be unlikely to ever hold his position unless he died saving the pack, that he would now soon serve as Alpha. He has grey short hair but brown eyes that match Louis’s. Mum walks over to join us with Luna Amelie, Brett’s mother. “Hello my gorgeous girl.” She kisses both my cheeks and squeezes me into an embrace. “You look stunning.” “Thank you Luna Amelie, you look amazing.” I add. She has long wavy brown hair, the same colour as Brett’s, that is styled into a side ponytail. She gives me a once over before turning back to my Mum.
