Bryce’s jaw flexes. I lift my chin. “I have called this hearing,” I say, “because a divine union has been broken.” The elders straighten. A few blink in confusion and look around as if they’re seeking answers from their fellows. Bryce’s eyes narrow dangerously. He has never harmed me, and I have never feared him, but never is a long time and there is always a first time for everything. My father inhales sharply, a barely perceptible sound. I continue, despite the tightness gathering in my chest. “I stand before you as Luna of Three Towers, a true born daughter of Greyheart blood, and invoke my right to declare this mate bond compromised.”

Kaia asked, and Lilith shook her head. "No, for now, they aren't aware that we are following Aaron's son or them; if we send people after them, any slight movement will alert them," she replied. "Most especially now that the true Luna has awakened with the power of the Halo. Going off against them at this point will bring no profit to us." She added. Kaia hesitated as she looked out into the night and the crescent moon glowing right in front of their window. "If the true Luna and Aaron's daughter clash, who would win?" she asked cautiously, and Lilith stiffened before walking away.

I guess they are scared that we will escape from them during the night if they leave the window open, so they make those holes there to serve as windows instead. I walked a few more steps to see little movements and I rushed towards it only to find a tiny little figure in the basket. They had the same purple shade of eyes like me, a little on the darker side, and the baby looked so small, the baby's dry lips indicated they have been here for quiet some time. I couldn't stop

Pride flickered there – probably at the mention of his son more than anything else. “What is going on?” a woman’s voice cut through the moment – cool and measured. With a sharp undertone of suspicion – and just a hint of jealousy. Perfect timing. I peeked around the Alpha’s broad torso and spotted the Luna – regal, composed and fierce. A woman used to being in control. And definitely not used to surprise guests throwing around parental titles. “Mom!” I beamed again, turning my full attention to her with open arms. “Mom?” the Alpha echoed me, still clearly trapped in a loop of disbelief. Luna’s brows knit together.

Jackson mind-linked to me. “I love you too,” I replied, wiping away my tears. We were ready for the second part of the ceremony. Elder Johanna was leading the ritual. She approached us, placed her hand over our joined hands, prayed to Selene, and nodded to Jackson. “I, Jackson, Alpha of the Silver Moon pack, declare you, my mate Loreen Liira of the Silver Moon pack, our Luna—the Luna who will stand beside me to lead and protect our pack,” Jackson proclaimed. “I, Loreen Liira, born of the Lunar Eclipse pack and now a member of the Silver Moon pack, accept the title of Luna to Alpha Jackson and to our Silver Moon pack,” I said, locking eyes with him.

“Now help me build what comes after.” Around us, the den began again. Not untouched. Never innocent. But honest. The dead had names. The house had no hidden throat beneath it. The routes were cut. Children cried for breakfast instead of from the walls. Wolves held one another because they chose to, not because fear had arranged them into patterns. And as the sun lifted over the burial hollow and found us there—witness, sovereign, pack, and all the living future still trembling in the wake of survival—I understood at last that this was what a true Luna was meant to guard. Not obedience. Not fate. A home where nothing hidden got to decide love’s shape again.
