Before the doors can close, Steph bursts in, running, tears in her eyes. “Lori,” she throws her arms around my neck.
“Oh, Lori. I was so fucking scared,” she cries, burying her head in my neck. I freeze because I don’t know if she’s faking it or being real.
“Don’t ever scare me like that. I have never prayed so much in my life,” she says, cupping my face.
