“Harrison. Step away from the fence.” He stepped away from the fence. He looked at it for a moment—the eighty-one nails, the lanterns strung in tight rows like a military operation—and I could see on his face the particular expression of a man who knows he has overdone something and is not yet willing to admit it. The cake was from the bakery on Ashland. It had ten candles on it, and Lucas’s name on one side, and Chloe’s name on the other, and a small wooden horse figurine on top that Chloe had picked out herself at a craft shop three weeks earlier because she had decided that horses were her personality now.

He gave her the menu and Kate went through it, so when she noticed that the snacks were not costly, she bought a lot of snacks and walked pass Cindy as she went back straight to the car. Cindy was amazed seeing that the bag Kate was carrying was filled with snacks and after a moment she followed Kate to the car,

"If you care about her so much, why don't you get back together with her? Today's a good day for reconciliation. Come on, give us something to cheer about!" A smile tugged on Jonathan's lips, but perhaps Eloise's presence beside him prompted him to stop the crowd's jesting. "Ellie, don't take their words personally."
