Not around me or Amie. Ever again." Clara staggered back, disbelief and hurt swirling with the tears that pooled in her eyes. I turned around before she could see my tears fall. I ran into the nearest restroom and silently cried over the loss of a friend that, until today, was more than a friend. *** A MONTH LATER AIDEN

And now, the distance between us was a painful reminder of what I couldn’t reciprocate. I stared at the screen for a long moment, my fingers hovering over the keyboard. What could I even say? How do you tell someone that you miss their friendship, that you miss how things used to be, but you can’t offer them more than that? It wasn’t fair—to him or to me. Finally, I typed a quick response: Missed having you here, but I understand. We should catch up soon. I hesitated before hitting send, unsure if it would do any good.

I replied, trying to keep my tone even. Fidelia's eyes flashed with anger, and she took a step closer to me. "You have no idea what it's like to lose someone you love, and you weren’t even there for me," she spat, her voice venomous. Fidelia and I stopped being friends a year before her mother died. My family paid the necessary condolence visits, and I didn’t think it was necessary for me to check up on Fidelia; we weren’t even friends to begin with.

I walk over to her, pretending like nothing’s changed, hoping she’ll meet me halfway. “Elara,” I say gently, trying to spark up a conversation. She turns slowly, lips tight. “We should focus on finishing this before midday,” she says. Her tone is calm but distant, final. I nod and step back, swallowing the lump rising in my throat. "You lost her," Kira whispers, "just like him." It's funny how quickly friendships can disintegrate into thin air. On what grounds did I have to lose my childhood bestfriend for?

Together. Clara feels something give way inside her not loudly, not all at once, but like a seam finally splitting under too much strain. Her thoughts fragment, reorganize, replaying conversations, It was only later, when the adrenaline faded and the quiet set in, that Clara understood what had really been lost. Not the relationship, not the promises or the shared future she had once imagined but the friendship she had cherished, the one she had believed was indestructible. That was gone. It revealed itself in small, cruel ways. In how memory no longer felt safe. In how laughter, once easy and unguarded, now replayed in her mind with a sour aftertaste, as if each shared joke had been rehears

Losing someone who knows you so well is worse than a heartbreak. It really hurts. "If a boy makes you cry again, I swear..." He wiped my tears away, looking at me deeply that I almost calmed down.

I feel like I've lost my best friend, and I don't know what to do. I know my moving away has made things hard, reducing us to writing letters to keep in touch. I understand that things are different now, but I feel like you've forgotten about me. We used to talk all the time, and now we don’t talk at all. I have not gotten a letter from you, instead I receive the letters I sent you in return. Maybe you’ve decided to no longer be my friend, or perhaps you met someone new to take my place, and are too busy to write. I miss our conversations. I miss just being around you.

To press gentle kisses to your lips. It is good that you aren’t here. I am not strong enough to face you yet. I don’t know if I ever will be. Our friends, are they still ours, or are they just mine or yours? I don’t know how this works. I guess it doesn’t really matter. Our friends say I’ll heal with time. I don’t think I want to though. The loss of you will remind me that no one can be trusted. That I am only good for others to use. To take what they want and leave. I thought maybe you were different.

I asked as I stared back at my wristwatch. "She hasn't called ever since she left" Jacq said as she took out the banners. "That's strange, she's never late" Wu said as she shrugged her shoulders. **** Though this friendship never really stops growing, it's still prone to the risks. To the loss and very much of bad things until it dies but its okay. The beauty is in letting go of such friendship, knowing full well that another is bound to come. And while you're not willing to remake those mistakes, you'll find out alas
