Sixty-seven The moon hangs low in the night sky, casting an eerie glow on Alpha Damon, cloaked in shadow, as he approaches the ancient Moon church. The air is thick with an unnatural cold, and stillness as he slips through the creaking doors with a calculated move. Inside, the moonlight filters through stained glass, creating a surreal atmosphere. Damon's senses heighten, his imposing steps echoing on the cold, stone floor as he moves deeper into the dimly lit space.

Something that registered her touch and responded to it slightly, the way an ember responds when you blow across it without flame. She stood and crossed to the window. Winter afternoon light was thinning. The sun was dropping behind the western wall and the sky above was the deep, milky blue of a northern winter early evening. And in the upper left quadrant of the library window — she had noticed this three days ago and had been waiting to test it since — the moon was already visible. Risen early, as it did in these northern latitudes in the coldest months, pale and precise against the blue. She moved to stand directly in the shaft of moonlight falling through the highest pane.

The other part was the real basement which was below the ground. Dara’s room window opened to the garden which was at the back of the house. It was a big garden. Cold wind blew and the moon looked beautiful than anything. She put her ear phones on and played hers and Wade’s favorite song. She sang softly with the song and watched the moon as it shined. “O for I can’t help falling in love with you!” she sang. After the song finished, she thought to go to her bed and get some sleep as she was feeling tired and sleepy now.

She leaned back on the backrest and sighed at the view of the teardrop-silver colour lake; shaped like a perfectly flat metal disc. No sounds rang out from the shimmering emptiness of space in front of them. Even the huffing wind was too lazy to scatter the a-flame quilt of warm earthy leaves spread out around the tree's base in the small clearing. They sat in silence, drinking in the scenery, calming their senses and enjoying each other's company. "Have you ever heard of the Moonfall pack?" Minnow asked after much consideration. "Hm, yeah, it's a small town up in the mountains. Why do you ask?"
