Standing up, Luca smoothed down the creases in his shirt. Unconvinced, Cornelia rounded the desk to stand beside him. "Then why do you look so bizarre? Clara snapped her fingers in her face but got not the response she expected but a response nonetheless as a growl escaped Adriella vocal cords. Clara flinched, withdrawing her hand just as Evander yanked her behind him, assuming a protective stance, his teeth grinding against one another as he forced out a growl of his own. He wasn't finished. “You gave Olivia the chance to be the Luna of Redwood, and she lost it because you rejected her.” He smiled. “Now another man may give her something far greater.” I tightened my fists. “If Olivia becomes happy with Lorenzo, that's her business.” “Of course.” Adrian laughed, nodding his head. “Of course.” His laughter continued for a moment before he finally composed himself. “It is simply fascinating to watch.” I raised an eyebrow. “Watch what?”

Luca strolled over and draped an arm around my shoulders, playing the part of the doting fiancé perfectly.
