Mario was speechless with his eyes wide with fear. “Did I?” Hugo yelled again. Mario shook his head. “You dare put your hands on him!” Hugo shouted again and shoved his knee into Mario’s stomach. This time he was down for good. He lay there squirming on the ground as his men looked at him from a distance. The cartel boss went down on his knees and threw a barrage of hooks and every single one of the punches landed on Mario’s face. Mario was incapacitated. Hugo walked away from the downed thug and towards Mario’s men. The men fought the urge to make a run for it.

Riccardo laughs as you know, it must look amusing to the nannies and the guards. "Don, I have to be serious. I have never seen a child messing up a mafia Godfather like this. One little baby took out the big bad Godfather. I bet you will never use the end of this," Mario laughs. He heard the commotion and couldn't wait to see what was happening. Mario cannot stop laughing, and Riccardo glares at him. "Let Mario help you clean up the mess since he thinks it is so funny," Riccardo says. Mario knows he will vomit if he has to help.

Mario said, his voice a low purr, "what brings the mighty Alpha Jack to an old man like me tonight.” Jack took a deep breath and leaned in closer, his voice hushed. "Mario, I am sure you must have heard everything that’s been going on. And everything that Leonardo Durante has been doing." Mario's eyes glinted with intrigue. "And what can I do to help?"

Their hands were tied behind them, secured tightly. Luigi stood behind them. He was a brick of a man. He never smiled, never slipped up, and handled most of the work that had to do with keeping our soldiers in check. With a rough tap, Luigi jolted them both awake. He proceeded to give us a rundown of their offense. “Maria and Ezequiel,” Luigi said, his voice flat. “They tried to get away with selling on the side.” “New in New York?” I asked Luigi. It was clear how I was more interested in this than Enzo.

My fists pummel his face, but he just smirks with each hit, laughing. Everyone gasps, and I know it’s not because of the fight. A heavy crack sounds, which signals Luigi just entered the fucking room and has a hold of his whip. My spine stiffens as I stand straight, realizing I look like the instigator since I was the one on top of Rizzo and punching the shit out of him. “Back away from him, Morales,” Luigi says. I swallow hard and follow his orders, as even I’m not insane enough to stand up to that sadist.

Luciano chimed in, and the fact he could understand my son and I couldn't, made me hate him more. I dug through my bag but before I could pull out a snack for him, Luciano handed Matteo a Kinder Bueno. My son’s eyes got big, and before I could even open my mouth to reprimand Luciano for giving a kid chocolate to sate his hunger, Matteo was tearing into it, struggling to open it. His eyes met mine, begging me to open it. I took it with a sigh and opened it for him.

I open my mouth, unwilling to give him the satisfaction, but Antonio arrives at our side, and I give him a fake smile. “It’s good to see you two as a united front.” He looks around. “That will silence the rumors and ruin the bets.” I frown. “The bets?” “That’s right. Some say you won’t last six months married,” he smiles cynically while Salvatore looks at him like he wants to rip his head off. “Others bet not even a month.” “And which group are you in, Morelli?” Salvatore questions, maintaining a bored expression. It’s astonishing how this man can change his facade in the blink of an eye. It’s almost creepy.
