I said slowly, “does Mia have any relatives? A sister?” He blinked, visibly taken aback. “A sister, sir?” He hesitated, furrowing his brow in thought. “I… don't think so.” Then, as if realizing the urgency of the question, he quickly added, “Give me a moment, sir.” Luke reached for his phone, stepping back slightly as he made a call. “Check immediately,” he said to whoever was on the other end. “I need to know if Miss Mia Blackwell has a sister.” Without waiting for a reply, he hung up and stood stiffly, his posture even more rigid than usual.
