MIA’S POV I stare at him, wondering when he will let out an uproar and say. “Oh, I was just messing with you,” His eyes trailed down my body gently and when our eyes met I could not get myself to look away from him, It was strange to be captivated and mesmerized by someone that you barely know. "Mia, I am waiting for your response," he spoke in a hoarse tone. I swallowed. "Wait, you weren't kidding?" I asked trying to wrap my head around the fact that the Lycan wanted me to be his mate. It was so strange.

I turned in anger and charged at him, he hadn't expected me to still be standing, I took him by surprise and snapped his neck. I felt a decapitating pain in my upper back like my spine was being pulled out, I fell to the ground, groaning, and a loud howl thundered in the room, I turned my head sharply to see that Adrian had dug inside claws into Noah's back and was trying to pull out his spine. Noah thrashed against him, trying to free himself. I looked around the room, the other lycans were occupied, fighting vampires and there was no one to help him.

Chapter 53: Stop him “Your Majesty! He’s unstoppable!” The cry tore across the royal courtyard as smoke and blood filled the air. Flames licked the ancient stones of Mathias’ kingdom, sparks rising like demons into the night. What had begun as a mere duel, a test of strength, had turned into an unholy storm. A single man against an entire empire. And that man was Kael. The once proud Lycan Prince now cut through soldiers like paper, his eyes burning red, his body dripping blood yet fueled by something darker than rage. Every swing of his sword cracked shields in half, every howl rattled the bones of even the bravest knights.

Its red eyes were locked with my own silver and filled with a strange look that I couldn't quite decipher. "Kill." As slobber began to drip from its wide open muzzle, the lycan growled. "KILL!" Lunging forward, the lycan let a snarl escape from it as its clawed hands reached towards me. Jumping back, I managed to dodge the attack, but the lycan was fast, much faster than me. Easily recovering, it continued to move forward, slashing out its hands at me again and again. Realizing that I needed to do something other than dodge, I jumped forward, latching onto one of the lycans' legs and yanked, causing the lycan to fall backwards, but not before leaving three long gashes along my back.

“Whatever you find, it doesn’t change how I feel. Or the fact that you’re still breathing after I marked you. That tells me all I need to know.” I swallowed and nodded slowly, turning back to the phone screen. I scrolled through website after website, my eyes burning from staring too long at the screen. Most of what I found were theories, old forum posts, and scattered myths. Nothing felt concrete. Until I discovered one word—The Theryn—buried deep in a half-translated article from a lycan folklore site. My heart thudded. “Kade,” I called, glancing over my shoulder. He looked up from where he was laying with a snack in hand. “Yeah?”

A sigh of relief escaped my lips, seeing the rest of the content in English inside. However, my relief was short-lived as a sudden gust of air swept into the room, tugging my hair all over my face. Before me, the pages of the book fluttered in a haphazard symphony, flipping back and forth as if seeking to reveal the tantalizing secrets it held. Perhaps it did. Because two ruby eyes stared at me from inside the open page, and above it written in big, bold letters was... Lycans.

I backed away and went around the couch, putting more space between myself and the two men, if one could even call them that. "I heard what your dad said," I told Cain. Leaning down, I picked the book up off the couch and held it in one hand. "You're a Lycanthrope," I said. Saying it out loud made it all click inside my head The whole bit about Cain telling me they were their own undercover organization; that had to be what the book referenced when it said that Lycans all lived together in secret. And the sub-human strength the book talked about would explain why Cain was able to kill that man with one punch. But there was one thing that didn't add up....

Rey's fingers traced the spines until they settled upon a tome titled "The Chronicles of Shadows: Unveiling the Secrets of Lycanthropy and Dark Arts." With utmost care, Rey and Lucius carried the book to a nearby table, their eyes filled with anticipation as they opened its pages. The text revealed the history and nature of Lycans, detailing their origins, abilities, and the curse that afflicted them. As they read, their knowledge expanded, shedding light on the connection between Lycans and the corruption plaguing their realm. They discovered that the Black Beast was a dark entity that thrived on chaos, capable of twisting the minds of Lycans and corrupting their instincts.

"Lycans are creatures of instinct. They do not hide emotion; they act upon it." Chloe flipped through her old journals. The handwriting was childish, recorded years ago when she still thought being part of a "Hunter Dynasty" was a heroic calling. She remembered her mother pointing to old bestiaries, gently explaining the hierarchies of the wolf, the fox, and the stag.

He took a longer look at Kayden and his eyes widened in realization. "Claire who is his father" he asked again but this time in a softer voice I felt a tear roll down my cheek and Kayden turned around and gave me a hug. "Mommy don't cry" Kayden said Jacobi ran his hands through his hair exasperatedly. He stared at me with raised eyebrows and I only nodded my head in reply. "Impossible" said alpha Duncan in disbelief " lycans cannot have children with humans" Jacobi knelt down to Kayden's level, but even though he was kneeling, he was still way taller and bigger than my five years old son who was already at my waist level.
