“You scared everybody downstairs,” Dylan said coldly. Lydia laughed quietly after hearing that.
“No,” she corrected. “I distracted everybody downstairs.” The honesty behind the statement made the fear in my chest deepen immediately because she sounded proud of it.
“What do you want?” I asked sharply. Lydia’s attention shifted toward me fully again, and suddenly I understood something terrifyingly clear.
She hated me.
Not casually.
Not emotionally.
Completely.
“I wanted to see the woman who ruined my life,” she said calmly. Dylan’s expression darkened instantly beside me.
