Only us caught in something too strong to undo.
When he lifted me off the table and carried me toward the bed, my heart was beating too fast to count. He set me down gently, his forehead resting against mine for a second before he whispered, “If we do this, there’s no going back.”
“I know,” I breathed. “Then don’t stop.”
He didn’t.
The night stretched between us, long and unbroken, every sound and touch echoing like a promise neither of us knew how to keep.
