HARPER "Why didn't he tell me last night? Why so early in the morning? What am I going to wear?" I protested. Mabel took some formal-looking clothes from my closet. She even knew more about what clothes were in my closet than I did. It was as if she had become a part of me. "Choose from these three!" Mabel said to me. She displayed the three outfits. "Mabel, can't you see? I'm panicking, confused, how can I possibly choose in a situation like this?"

“It's Mabel. She's almost here.” I was already moving. I handed over my glass with a server and strolled outside. The night breeze tousled my hair as I slowed at the grand terrace. More guests arrived. Cameras flashed, their lights blinding. Then a familiar convoy pulled up. A valet opened the door, and my breath caught in my throat. And then Mabel Parker stepped out in a red satin gown and hair styled in vintage waves like she’d just walked out of a 1950s silver screen.

Mabel stepped out dressed in emerald silk and diamonds that caught the overhead lights every time she moved. Her eyes settled on me immediately and then she smiled. “Morana!” she called warmly as though we were family in any meaningful sense of the word. I barely had time to react before she crossed the distance between us, kissed my cheek publicly and rested her hand lightly against my arm. “You should have come home sooner.”

Carter pulled it off, revealing a mannequin dressed in a green suit. The sight was strangely unsettling. Then, Carter looked at me. "Aiden, I spent two nights making this. I hope you'll wear it tomorrow." I couldn't help but laugh at the sheer audacity of it. Carter's face fell instantly, and he added, "I know it might not look that great, but I put my heart into making it." "Do you want me to wear it too?" I asked as I turned to Mabel. She hesitated, clearly torn. Looking at Carter's increasingly pitiful expression, she said, "He really meant well. And compared to all the black-and-white suits, it's… kind of different."

Meanwhile, Macarius and Lionel merely stood at the side as they gleefully watched as things played out. However, just when the situation was getting dangerous, a displeased voice rang, "What happened?" Mabel was dressed in a green gown that accentuated her curvy figure.
