I barely had time to catch my breath before they both walked inside. "Go get ready," he said as he looked at me. “We are going out to celebrate.” I swallowed hard and nodded, making my way to my room. Not long after, Mabel entered, holding a dress in her hands. “This is for you,” she said, offering it to me with a small smile. “I figured you wouldn’t have anything to wear.” I forced myself to return the smile, though my nerves were anything but calm. “Thank you,” I said, my fingers brushing against the soft fabric as I took the dress from her.

Adonis Mabel was the kind of girl you couldn't resist, I knew this the first time I set my eyes on her. She carried herself so confidently when she walked into a room, it was like the light was following her around. Her blonde hair reflecting bounced off the natural light, the heat of the sun made her rosy cheeks even more rosier. She even knew more about what clothes were in my closet than I did. It was as if she had become a part of me. "Choose from these three!" Mabel said to me. She displayed the three outfits. "Mabel, can't you see? I'm panicking, confused, how can I possibly choose in a situation like this?"

Nothing more. I turned to Alex “Send her in.” Minutes later, the door opened. Mabel walked in, her skimpy blue dress hugging her curves like always, her lips painted in red. “Rough night?” she smiled, walking straight to the table and pouring herself a drink like she owned the place. I didn’t answer. She began to undress. Slow. Intentional. Familiar. This was routine. Clean. Predictable. Exactly what I needed. Or so I thought.

Mabel stepped out dressed in emerald silk and diamonds that caught the overhead lights every time she moved. Her eyes settled on me immediately and then she smiled. “Morana!” she called warmly as though we were family in any meaningful sense of the word. I barely had time to react before she crossed the distance between us, kissed my cheek publicly and rested her hand lightly against my arm. “You should have come home sooner.”

Carter pulled it off, revealing a mannequin dressed in a green suit. The sight was strangely unsettling. Then, Carter looked at me. "Aiden, I spent two nights making this. I hope you'll wear it tomorrow." I couldn't help but laugh at the sheer audacity of it. Mabel responded respectfully. Mabel, a young maid with a perpetually cheerful demeanour, was kneeling by an open suitcase, carefully layering Bluey’s silk robes into the suitcase.
