Maeve yelled from the pathway as Angela parked her car in the parking lot and stepped out. Maeve was the first and only female friend of Angela in her class. They were project partners and eventually ended up being besties. "Please tell me you covered the last topic of our presentation," Maeve asked expectantly. "I did," Angela said walking down the pathway to their department when suddenly a heavy arm draped over Maeve's shoulder, and she looked behind to find Milo grinning at them.

Mia shot Cooper a look. Cooper froze, caught off guard. Mia gasped, hand flying to her mouth. “Scott—Mia, don’t listen to him—” Susan laughed harder. And it was nice to finally catch up on that stuff with my best friend. Becca had actually secured a steady job since moving back to Melbourne, which she seemed pretty thrilled about. She was working for a relatively small media outlet, editing articles and news releases before they were published online. Although it wasn't quite as big a breakthrough as getting a book published or striking up an author contract, it was a step in the right direction, and I could tell that it gave her a lot of joy.

Brian’s POV Maeve looked up and froze, brush tangled in her hair. She must have been lost in her thoughts. In the mirror, behind her shoulder, the door to her new bedroom was open. She was in a pale pistachio colour bikini that I had gotten for her and she looked tantalisingly mouth watering in it. I was standing in the doorway.
