Frederick wasn’t sure if there was still anything left of Magnus to save.
Magnus let out a guttural snarl, his eyes locked onto Frederick. His lips curled back, revealing sharp, elongated canines—his body was shifting, morphing, his magic warping his very form. His shoulders trembled as though he were fighting something inside himself, but the darkness was winning.
“Stay back!” Frederick warned, magic crackling in his hands, but Magnus charged.
The force of his attack was unrelenting.
Frederick barely managed to throw up a barrier before Magnus crashed into it. The impact sent a deafening boom through the hall, the magical shield straining under the force. Cracks spiderwebbed through it—Fred
