The World As I Found It Novels & Stories

But the world was already unraveling. ⸻ I pressed my hand to the glass, breath fogging the window. “Ten days to midnight,” I whispered. “Then the world burns again.” And this time… I’d be ready

"I just didn't know what New York had in store for me. I met my Brown-eyed brute, The one who found me!" New York, here I come!

'Do you know what's going on? Before I could answer all I saw was black. No. They couldn't have. How?I snap our eyes open and call to Hetty again. 'Please be here Hetty, I can't live without you.' Nothing. I stare at the blue sky above through the leaves of the trees overhead. I start to become aware of what is around me. I hear insects. Eli called them cicadas. How did I not hear them before? Their chirps consume the air around me. I look to the left and see the flowers Carla had in her hair, only they're bigger. They hang from the branches of a tree just as they hung from her clip. I try to roll over to get up. I've never controlled Hetty's body before, it's awkward.

He approached Shawn and whisper to his ear, “This is how simple my advice for you, just make sure you don’t die, or else, I will be the one who will kill you whether you’re in hell or heaven.” “W-what do you mean?” his nervousness started to cripple his body. He sighed in frustration, "It seems that I have no choice but to tell you," he walked towards him, "Chaos and destruction are on their way to hunt you so you need to prepare for what's coming. Always remember that you are the key." Shawn shakes his head in disagreement, "I don't understand what you're talking about. You must be mistaken." The man smiled again at him, “You’ll know soon enough, but it’s time for me to go so I’ll see you a

The packhouse behind us, the boys safe within its walls, the earth firm beneath our feet, and the night sky stretching endlessly above, I understood fully: the world was healed. And so was I. THE END.

I’m the afterthought, the placeholder. The car didn’t slide to a stop, it settled. A final, definitive sound. The world outside the window was a postcard of opulence: the sleek, white hull of a cruise ship the size of a small city, lights blazing like a captured galaxy, the soft lap of water against the dock polished to a mirror sheen. My breath caught. It was beautiful, terrifying. A world away from my books and my gardens. My breath caught. “It’s beautiful,” I breathed.

I whispered. My thumbs pushed the tears off his cheeks. I stared into his eyes. He looked like he was in pain and whatever it was, was making it worse. His eyes searched mine as he took my palms and kissed them. "Please remember you are my world." He began. I nodded slowly. "I have been called back to the war. I have to leave for California by the first snowfall." He explained. I stopped breathing. My hands dropped from the side of his face. Everything felt like it was closing in. Black spots appeared at the side of my vision.

~CASSANDRA~ I blinked my eyes thrice before flapping them open. I had a really weird dream last night where I found myself in the past world. It was really funny and I'm glad I woke up from that dream because it was actually scary to me. "Eda." I heard that same name in my dream. Wait.... I think I'm still dreaming, I really need to wake up from this dream.
