I instantly but my bottom lip, hating how I just sounded like a caveman. Taking a deep breath, I said in a steady voice. "I was just checking out the briefcase. It must really cost a lot." That sounded way much better and perhaps, convincing? I raised my head up, staring at his expressionless face. I badly wished to know what was going on in his mind.
