Smoke spiraled upward, curling pale and ghostly toward the moon. The flame turned strange smoky white, clouded like mist yet sharp enough to sting the eyes. Wolves howled in unison, bones cracking as they shifted. The sound was deafening, primal, and terrifying. Hugh let out a thunderous howl and bolted into the forest. The pack surged after him, hundreds of paws pounding, leaving the clearing in chaos of fur and howls. Only a handful stayed. Annette, Amaretti, and the night crawlers, who circled the struggling Alpha Mason. His body jolted, his veins darkening, the blessing of the goddess twisting against the corruption already eating at him.

I gasped. Lunar Eclipse was more of a pack of mercenaries. No one knew the real names of the pack members, as they all had some sort of code name. The Alpha of the pack was known as Shadowstrike. Shadowstrike was considered the ultimate warrior, with skills that a normal werewolf didn’t possess. He could strike his opponents down with a single blow, but it wasn’t just because he was strong. There was a rumor that he could expel some sort of energy in his attacks that could knock someone down without ever touching them.

But none of these strange things stuck to me the way the strange breathtaking girl did. The girl with the snow white skin, and long gray hair, you'd think it wasn't real. True, that she hadn't said a word to me, or even spared me a glance... but her presence was suffocating. Cold. Ethereal. Distant. Like she belonged to another time, another world entirely. She was the kind of character you'd see in horror movies. Her porcelain skin made me remember the vampires from the "twilight" movie, and that thought made me shudder.

Damion had managed to change her into the wolf charmer. Selene's eyes scanned the ground below her. She lifted her hand slowly and then swept it across her body. When she did so, the witches who were still battling with the sorcerers were flung violently away. Some rolled to the ground while others were thrown into the walls of the battlements. This caused those who were still fighting one another to stop their actions and turn their attention to Selene.
