Scott asked as they got onto their work bus. "No, Scott," Martin said. "It's a shop, take what you like and put it in the bag," Ronnie said with a smirk. "A shopping mall? Well, that's what I'm talking about" Scott said and laughed hard. Now he's got something to keep his head busy. They arrived there one hour later because the museum where the artifacts were kept was far from their hideout in the central city. "So are you telling me no siren will go off and no blazing red light like fire will fire at us?" Scott asked.

He's cheating.” I say it out loud.

Rain had been coming down in sheets, and I’d barely been able to see the road, just getting back from town with some supplies. As I pushed the door open, Scout bolted in ahead of me. But there weren’t paw prints—no, these were human bloodprints. My hand found the bat by the wall, and I gripped it tight, creeping forward, following the trail. The marks led straight to the bathroom. With a quick breath and my hands wrapped tightly around the bat, I lifted my foot and slammed the door open.

“And now… the traditional scavenger hunt.” Cheers and groans erupted in equal measure. “That’s right,” she said with a mischievous grin. “You must participate. No excuses.” More laughter. She pulled out a dark velvet sack and held it aloft. “Inside are the names of every adult present. One name per strip. We’ll draw pairs at random. The hunt begins in ten minutes. Finish quickly—or be prepared to face the consequences.” A collective gasp. Someone shouted, “Tell us what the punishment is!”

The plan was very nicely thought. They first dragged me to complete some kind of gymkhana across the town, where there would be games and stuff that would end with shots and laughs. Like a scavenger hunt and each clue would be something for me to do or confess. If I succeeded someone else had to drink, if I didn't I would. And they'd hidden clues, creating a route to all the places where we usually hang out. The mall, the field, the park...

“We set up a scavenger hunt for you two. The first clue is hidden somewhere in the living room.” Without missing a beat, Jayden and Jayson raced toward the living room, their voices filled with excitement as they searched for the first clue.
