What’s our dinner, huh?” I asked as I sat beside Flannel. Maia was across from us. “Nanny said it’s kare-kare! It’s Filipino food, Mom! I love it!” She giggled. I just laughed again. I kissed her head. “Let’s eat,” I said as I put on some food on her plate.

I walked in and made a terrible mistake. "Good morning." I greeted the middle-aged woman whom I assumed to be Mama Tiv. "Good morning o, what do you want to buy?" She smiled. Mama Tiv was a light skinned beauty, age was definitely on her side with just a fine line on both of her cheeks and some crinkles at the side of her eyes. "Okay ma." I assumed she knew me. "Rice, spaghetti, plantain, one fish and one meat ma." I said to her and she apportioned the various foods on my plate.
