"How you like that, big boy?" Mell raised his hand and the ground beneath him did the same. He was elevated by the earthen platform higher than Varanus. The platform took shape of a knight in horned helmet, with Mell standing on its open left hand. The other hand was raised, holding a tomahawk. The details were too crude for Mell's likings but he figured it was the quickest he could pull off in battles and his boisterous laugh showcased his satisfaction.

"Boys, get back to your positions," he ordered and his team disappeared immediately without so much as a sound when they moved their feet.

I snapped, reaching for the helmet, "He's hungry. I had money." I reached out to take the helmet, but he pulled it back an inch, his eyes dropping to my fingers. "Did you wash your hands? You have grease and salt all over your skin. I’m not having you smear fast-food remnants all over the inside of a four-thousand-dollar helmet." I looked at my hands. They were definitely shiny. I looked at him, standing there in his pristine, white designer T-shirt, looking down his nose at me like I was a stray cat.
