"You owe me a foot massage." Higan led me passed the trees and into a clear and grassy place that gave view to the nature below us. I stood in a daze as I drunk in our surrounding and marveled at how breathtaking the scenery was. The cloudless sky was a light shade of blue and it made the view more picturesque. "Whoa," I breathed and smiled at Higan. He smiled back. "Beautiful, isn't it?" "Totally." I got my phone and took some pictures.

Maybe because I did not want to be anywhere I would be recognized. I reached Kyoto three days later. The minute I stepped off the bus at the Arashiyama area, something in me relaxed. They were here. Not quiet—but quiet. The quiet not condemning you. The quiet giving you room to unravel not in front of anyone but in secret. Cherry blossoms were starting to flower, pale pink petals floating on the breeze like small promises on a piece of paper. The weather was cloudy and temperate and not hot and not cold.

In every one, she liked to hide her mark in it somewhere. Even in the clothes she made, she’d invariably stitched the detail of two cherries in. It was her signature in every piece she made.

The anger that was so vibrant just now seemed to dissipate in an instant, spreading into the night, sounding unusually tender. I sat down involuntarily, and as I looked up, I couldn't help but be stunned. The lights meandered down, reflecting on the shimmering water. A cluster of early cherry blossoms by the water had just reached its blooming season. With the night breeze, petals fell like rain, landing on the water, around us, and on our shoulders. Then he reached toward a folder on the side of his desk, but his hand stopped halfway when something caught his attention, a small silver photo frame resting in the corner. The moment his eyes landed on it, something in his expression softened. He picked it up carefully. The photograph showed a woman standing beneath blooming cherry blossom trees, delicate pink petals drifting through the spring air as the wind played with her long hair. She was smiling brightly at the camera, her eyes warm and full of life, the kind of radiant smile capable of lighting up an entire worl

Nozomi nodded. Her mother gave her some pocket money to spend again. It was Nozomi’s second date with Hikaru. This time, everyone knew about their plans. Hina did not sulk either, but she made them promise to have a group outing to the amusement park some day after their date. They held hands and headed straight for Tenki shrine together. In front of the shrine, there was a small but lively festival. A lot of plum products were displayed and put on sale.
