Theophilus' gaze drifted to Maria expectantly. "That's Maria, my P.A." His shoulders slugged, his expression as though as he expected something more. "Nice to meet your acquaintance," Theo finally said. "Come on in. They await you." Jackson's stomach churned. Not much had changed. As he walked on, he realized nothing had changed. The library, and the living rooms, all had stayed the way he remembered. The portraits on the walls, the antiques, the statues, they all remained the way they've always been over the century. He told me to tell you that if you are not there in three minutes, he will come and drag you out himself." Mary’s blood turned to ice. She stood up, her knees shaking. She was wearing a simple, high-necked grey dress—the color of ash. She felt like ash. She followed Elena down the long, winding corridors, past the room where her "husband" lay in a vegetative state, and toward the heavy mahogany doors of the library.

“A logo. Crescent moon over a wave. Langley Maritime. Marina District.” Grayson’s breath caught. Langley—Eleanor’s maiden name. Coincidence, or something more? “Anything else?” he asked. “Trace hum in the audio. Industrial. Possibly a generator. That narrows it to a few buildings.” Grayson’s phone buzzed with a text: Marina District. Building 12. One hour. Come alone, or she dies. Marcus’s voice was urgent. “It’s a trap. Six hostiles, armed, spread out. You can’t go in alone.”

Marry said and started walking before Angela asked her something. Angela took her phone and started following her. Marry lead her to the second floor then went towards a white door. "It is the library," Marry said and opened the door then went inside. Angela looked at the door and saw something written above the door. Angela went a little close to read the words. My little dream world Angela read it. "Ma'am, come inside" Marry called her. Angela entered the library and as Marry said indeed it is a big library. The room was full of books. And a beautiful flower-decorated chair was beside the window. It was a glass window.

She didn’t ask questions,just sat beside me, her hand pressed over mine. “You’re close,” she whispered. “Don’t slip now.” I kissed her temple. “I won’t.” She lifted her head, met my eyes. The same eyes Micah had. The same fight. “Bring it all down, Adrian.” “I will.” The marina smelled of salt and rotting wood when I stepped onto the dock at ten on the dot. Lights flickered overhead , only half the bulbs still alive, swaying in the breeze like lanterns in some forgotten graveyard.

Marina was talking to Hasan when she accidentally looked outside the door, she saw a familiar figure and immediately recognized it as Lina. “ Hasan, I'll be right back.” Marina said then got up and ran to the front desk immediately and borrowed an umbrella, she ran towards Lina with an umbrella: “ Lina, how are you? This way you will catch a cold, can we go to that bar and sit until the weather clears?”

“She’s not in imminent danger and the faster the other mermaids are freed, the better.” “Thank you,” Chase breathed, anxiously following her movements on the black and white monitors. Without another word, Marina careened out of the control room, dashing for the lower levels where the mermaids were trapped. Her heart pounded, blood rushing in her ears as she darted through the hallways, silently praying to reach her destination without meeting any nefarious shifters along the way.

The sun was high over the Grind estate. The light was shining brightly through the massive windows and into the parlor where Marina flipped through an ancient grimoire. Her expression was bored, but her eyes remained sharp. She wet her thumb and turned another page. "It's been a while since I've been here," she muttered. "Though I never got a full tour. I was too busy on Joseph's bed." Chris shot her a look. "Classy." She shrugged. "I was being honest. Plus, with me and you, it was never inside the bedroom. You liked to take me into the woods under the moonlight."

She felt a twinge of warmth knowing she would soon be part of such moments. They continued to explore, with Mary sharing anecdotes about the family and the house’s history. Lune felt her worries begin to fade as she listened to Mary’s cheerful voice. It was refreshing to have someone to talk to who wasn’t weighed down by the complexities of being an Alpha’s mate.
