"Something like that," Marie answered, muffling the high edge of her voice with her tissue. "But I don't feel strong."
"The bravest never do," Ash offered with another squeeze to her shoulder. "I bet even Nelson Mandela had his bad days, but he prevailed, right?"
"You can hardly compare me to him," Marie muttered, managed a wan smile. "But thank you. I can't let myself down, none of us can. This isn't the end. It isn't."
