{Martha's POV} I scrolled through the files on my desk with a satisfied smile. Everything was settled; all I needed now was to wait for the profits. Closing the file, I leaned back against my chair, spinning it around to face the glass wall. The city looked surreal from up here, like something out of a TV show. Smiling, I closed my eyes, taking a deep, relaxing breath. The door creaked, and the next thing I heard were footsteps. I spun the chair back around to face the door.

The pack doctor came and went in to talk with her and sedate her. He comes out carrying her and walks away to our infirmary. I follow cause I need to check on Mary and Ben. Mary is awake now but won't make eye contact with me or Ben. She looks at the floor as fear fills her features. She is shaking and Ben is trying like hell to not have or pull her into his arms.

His words of love and commitment echoed in my mind, giving me hope for our future together. Just as I was about to get out of bed, the door creaked open, and Martha, entered the room. She carried a basin of warm water and a bundle of clothes, ready to help me bathe and dress for the day. Martha's eyes widened as she took in the disheveled state of the bed. Her gaze flickered to me, and I could see the knowing look in her eyes. She had seen the evidence of our passion, and I could only hope that she would keep our secret.

Okay, let me explain, I said to her. When I was coming to work this morning, waiting for the bus, Endrick saw me and he persuaded me to give me a ride to the company but I declined. You what! She exclaimed. You mean you declined the request of Endrick to give you a lift to the company. 'Wow’, she added. I pulled myself up wincing. The pain seems to be duller. Most likely the medication doctor Jonah had given me was still in my system. Gazing around the room I was alone, in a bedroom that I have never seen before.

Her father is hardly ever home, working long hours in the city while her mother spends most of her time grading papers from all of her high school students. She opens the door quietly, but there is no need. Her mother is still awake. She's curled up in the living room reading her latest adventure novel wrapped on the comfy (and dare she call ugly) recliner her father just had to have. Her curly auburn hair is up in a bun with a few stray strands spiraling free as her eyes intently scan the new Kindle she received for her birthday only a few weeks ago. Martha was the only one decent enough to stood ladylike. Sister Faustina coughed, and it was as if telling the two to shut up. But they did not catch the hint of warning, and kept on. It made the strict sister cheesed off. “Do you want guys to wait outside? You can sit on the balustrades there if you want.” “It is fine. We will just wait here.” Martha declined her offer. “No, I insist.” She closed the book she was reading with so much force that it sounded and then she walked to open the oaken door for us. “I will call for you if she is now available.” She led us out.

His amber eyes, which were evidently capable of commanding armies or—my heart apparently shone faintly in the receding sunlight like pools of molten fire. She was starving! The inn was quaint with yellow papering on the walls, blue glass lamps in the corners along with a huge bookshelf on one end filled with an assortment of books and writings. There were round tables spread throughout and a staircase leading up to the rooms beside the bar. Rose loved the reading chairs in the corners by the bookshelf the most.... she may spend a night or two snuggled up with a book in one of those huge chairs. A kindly man stood behind the bar and introduced himself as Mr. McGrath the innkeeper. He had been expecting us and had two rooms prepared and a staff room for our driver. Apart from her day-to-day housework, she mostly spent her time watching television or reading books. She was a very quiet person. Isabel briefly chatted with her after lunch, and she then went back to her bedroom. She lay on the bed and caught up on the TV shows and variety shows she had been following.
