All the memories of that human maid being killed in front of her eyes with blood oozing around from her neck and splattering around started flashing in Mary's mind making her become scared and cover herself in a foetal position. Her eyes widened and she hugged her body on the ground, burying her face in her palms, trying to hide away.

The scent of burning wood and the distant crackling of flames reached my senses, intensifying the drama unfolding around us. My heart sank as I caught sight of Maria lying on the floor, blood staining her once immaculate uniform. Horror seized me, and an overwhelming sense of guilt clawed at my insides.
