Their team was supposed to make a miniature maze out of whatever they wished. After they had gathered ideas from each one of them regarding how the maze should appear, they came to the final conclusion of creating a wooden tabletop maze that is open to the air, with lights and decorations inside and out. The maze would be designed with a musical key at each dead end that buzzes when a wheeled toy or whatnot comes in contact with it. But when it reaches the end of the maze, it triggers the motion sensor which prompts a sequence of flashing lights and a victory tune, so that the player gets a big celebration for winning the game! She placed her hands on the wall, and the maze responded, the light moving with her guidance. “This is like one of those stupid arcade games,” she muttered, her brow furrowed. “Except, you know, life or death.” She maneuvered the light carefully, avoiding traps that caused the maze to reset. Sweat beaded on her forehead, but she didn’t stop. Finally, the light reached the center, and her section of the puzzle unlocked with a soft chime. “One down,” she said, stepping back with a relieved sigh. “No big deal.” Althea’s section was next. Her challenge involved deciphering a complex series of symbols that appeared to be written in an ancient language.

The white lights in the giant, high-ceilinged concrete room slowly dimmed, replaced by a thin red glow reflecting off the glass walls. From four corners, a maze model slowly rotated, revealing narrow pathways and constantly flickering points of light. The Blind Maze was never designed to be simply a physical obstacle course. It's a living machine that reads human movement, body heat, and hesitation. The structure resembles a giant network of blood vessels. The walls are made of opaque polymer-coated glass that can turn transparent or dark in a split second. The floor is matte metal, absorbing light reflections so the human eye can't guess the laser's direction.

The maze was a massive labyrinth of towering, twelve-foot-tall evergreen hedges, designed with false turns and hidden silver tokens scattered throughout its winding paths. "Candidates, enter!" the steward commanded. We broke into a run, dispersing into the looming green corridors. I immediately veered toward the eastern wall of the maze, entirely focused on finding the stone archway that led toward the old aqueducts. I wasn't even looking for the silver tokens. Our eyes met as the door shut behind me. The maze of people that blocked my way earlier to reach room 3254 now were not such a hassle for me to surpass. This time around I just let them swallow me whole. As I reach the doors I can see Leah Meyers, the woman at the front desk, looking at me with the same hazed expression as earlier. I locked eyes with her for just a brief second, before I burst through the glass sliding doors as it opened. The weather is quite hot today, unusually hot. Frank said. "Exactly Mr. Frank, so even if they get access to this elevator, it would be of no use, it's remote-controlled," Maze proudly revealed. "You sound like you built this place," Frank said. "Maze is a specialist who builds places that are hard to access or escape," I told Frank. "Ha, Maze. I get it now," Frank nodded thoughtfully, clearly impressed. Her name was a pun on what she did for a living. The elevator door slid open and the three of us entered.
