The glare was not anger but a warning to Leo, which Leo discarded, taking it easy. "You are desperate to meet Alpha Marcus, aren't you? He is still in bed, trying to stand up on his own feet. Do you want to help? Or do you want to feel his pain?" Leo was caught off guard. Everyone knew what Daniel meant by the last sentence. They glanced at Leo and Daniel back and forth. After so many years, they were the two rivals together. However, Daniel had grown so high that even if Leo took over, he could not beat him. But it would not be impossible if his Luna, Violet Easton, were next to him.

I didn’t want to look at Raemon who I could feel his hot gaze on me. And hopefully he hasn’t invaded my thoughts again. “You didn’t give me an answer?” I spoke too soon because he mindlinked me immediately. I looked at him, wanting to tell him off with my frown but his own face told me off. He wasn’t smiling, his eyes dark and angry. It felt like intense jealousy with the way his eyes silently flashed and he didn’t look anywhere else from me. But villains don’t get jealous, do they? I looked away, focusing back on my food. “I’m fine.” I simply put it out for him because it looked like he wasn’t going to stop if he didn’t give him an answer.

His methods were no more merciful than Brandon’s. “Relax. I just want to ask a favor of you, Miss Tolkien,” he said softly. “My younger sister needs a bone marrow transplant, but her blood type is rare. The hospital’s tests show you're a strong match. “I know this is sudden, but if you agree, I’ll reward you generously.” My heart skipped a beat. This was my chance. Early the next morning, I went to the office. Once I had wiped out all the source code files, I dropped the divorce papers and the share transfer agreement onto Jessica's desk. Then, I went straight back to the villa to pack my bags. As I opened a drawer to grab my documents, I froze. Tucked at the very back was a set of matching shirts. And embroidered on the collars were the initials "JT and RP". Those were Jessica and Ronald's initials, and the shirts were from a limited-edition collector's series released eight years ago.

I have always found a way to be prepared for the unexpected. They say expect disappointment and you can never be let down, but right now I was completely thrown off balance. The attendant had given me such a feeling of happiness that I forgot that my marriage brought together the two biggest business rivals in the world. Ryan's voice was sharp as he clutched the diary to his chest, his eyes blazing as he glared at Zane. "I...I just saw it and... I didn't mean"

I stared at her, at the way he looked at her with so much affection—and affection I had foolishly believed was meant for me. He turned back to the crowd, speaking as if I weren’t even there. “Vivian saved my life. I owe her everything.
