No Tide for Yesterday

Gasps filled the hall. “Where is this?” someone asked. Lena replied calmly, “Latitude 32° north, longitude 118° east. Three years ago, this was a thriving coral reef system with over two hundred species of fish. Now it’s a dead zone.” She paused—then fixed her gaze directly on Ethan Grant. “And the cause was a cargo ship called Sky Titan. Owned by Grant Maritime Group.” The hall exploded. All cameras swung instantly toward Ethan. His hands tightened on the armrests, knuckles turning white.

They might be a place to start if they had more information than he. “My lord!” Another man rushed up to them and shoved a phone in his pocket. “We think we have news on Jormungand. There was a very serious tidal surge and tectonic activity. A massive one never before seen, origin puts it the Marianas Trench. The most likely place he’d move through this world and to the next or hibernate in. The entire pacific basin is on emergency alert for tsunami waves. Several islands near there have been nearly wiped out with the surge.” Surt was quiet for a moment. This wasn’t good, he was hoping ot have Fenrir in his grasp before then.

she comments. “Perhaps not,” says my mother, turning her attention to the guards, “Each of you, swim to your designations around the perimeter of Atlesper. These tsunamis are being controlled by sirna magic and since there have already been two, the chances of another is likely. Fan out now and protect your people,” she orders with power and authority. “Yes, Your Majesty!” they shout in perfect chorus then quickly disperse. “A sirna is behind this?” Eisa asks in anger, “Should we implement evacuation protocols?”

Another amazing book! I feel as though each book is my favorite in this series and I love the representation. This particular author has an amazing way of challenging vernacular and using it to empower her characters. Her world building has you vested in the outcome of the story and characters.

She smiles warmly and observes Naida, awaiting her response. Naida's expression shifts, a hint of nostalgia in her eyes. She gazes into the depths for a moment before responding. She smiles softly, but her eyes reveal a touch of sadness. Naida signs, her hands gently conveying the emotions within her. "Marine, Tasmanridge holds many memories for me. It's a beautiful place, with vibrant coral reefs and currents that make you feel alive. The merfolk there, we have a close connection to the ocean, much like the sharks that roam our waters. But talking about Tasmanridge makes me miss it even more. It's hard to put into words."

"Wonderful. Is there anything else you need to be comfortable? Additional towels, sunscreen, perhaps some of our local seafood specialties?" "We're good for now, thanks," Carson said. "Though I'm curious about the water ceremonies tomorrow. What should we expect?" "The Dawn Tide Blessing is beautiful, we wade into the surf at sunrise and offer gratitude to the Moon Goddess for her connection to the ocean's tides. Very spiritual." Marina's expression grew more serious. "Fair warning though, it does require getting wet. Ceremonial robes are provided, but you'll want to wear something comfortable underneath." "Noted. What about the Coral Circle?"

His friendly smile put me at ease. “So…first day at college and you are already in trouble. You must be a bad girl,” Eddie winked. “No way! I was just running late, that’s all,” I giggled nervously. “I am joking. My name is Eddie, as you heard Ms. Barns say. What’s your name?” Eddie asked me. “Marina,” I replied. “Marina, what a beautiful name. It suits you.” Eddie smirked. “Tha…thanks,” I stammered. Ugh, why did I have to be so shy about everything? Eddie didn’t seem like the kind of guy who likes a mumbling idiot.

THE LOST TIDE KING

THE LOST TIDE KING

For one breath, the temple vanished and Silvercrest appeared in its place. Red lanterns hung over streets filled with people staring toward the harbour. The sea had pulled flat. No waves struck the cliffs. Ships sat crooked in motionless water. Then the temple returned. The masked man released me and reached inside his coat. He pulled out a round glass device. Light moved across its surface. Voices burst from it. Fast. Overlapping. Terrified. “The western tide has stopped.” “No movement at Port Veyra.” “The southern islands report dead currents.”
