Chapter 3 Mer’kissed
Nerissa watches Madissa with the limp human in her arms. She can see the desperation on her sister's face as she presses her lips to his, initiating the Mer-kiss. The transformation begins, and Nerissa can see Bryan's body twitching slightly, as if trying to fight off the change. She knows that it can be a difficult process for humans, but it is their only hope of survival. Nerissa swims closer, keeping a watchful eye on the sharks that are still circling the area. She can feel the tension in the water, the sense of danger lurking just beneath the surface. But she knows that they cannot give up. They have come too far, risked too much, to let these humans perish. As Joe was being dragged by the strong rip current, he felt his energy fading away. He had never been a good swimmer, and the ocean was quickly turning into his grave. He looked around, searching for any sign of hope, but all he saw were the waves crashing over his head and the sky far above. Suddenly, something caught his eye. It was a flash of silver in the water, moving quickly towards him. As it got closer, he saw that it was a mermaid, with long purple hair and a shimmering tail. She swam gracefully through the water, effortlessly dodging the waves and currents.Extending her arm towards him. Joe couldn't believe what he was seeing. Was this real? Was he hallucinating? He's pretty sure he must be. His vision goes dark but he retains an awareness of what he feels. Joe, felt himself being pulled out of the dangerous rip current, but he was too weak to move or even open his eyes. As he felt the mermaid's arms around him, he heard the sound of rushing water in his ears and felt the sting of salt in his wounds. He knew he was bleeding out, and it seemed like only a matter of time before he would be swept away. Then, he felt a pressure on his lips, soft and gentle yet strong and powerful at the same time. As the mermaid gives Joe the Mer-kiss, he feels a jolt of energy coursing through his body, as though his long-starved muscles and blood cells are suddenly coming alive with a surge of oxygen. For a moment, he feels like he is being reborn, as though he's experiencing life for the first time all over again. Instinctively he sucks this breath in as a gasp without taking his mouth from hers, and reaching around to put his hand at the back of her head, he realizes he has been saved. A feeling of profound relief and gratitude that he can't quite put into words, comes over him. He opens his eyes and reaches up with his other hand to touch Nerissa's face, he feels a sense of deep connection and devotion to this mysterious creature who has just saved his life in the most unexpected way possible. Again, was he hallucinating? She was kissing him, giving him her breath. The way she held him tightly conveyed a sense worry and desperation to reach safety, but not hostility Joe felt a warmth spreading through his body, a sense of safety and protection that he had never experienced before. He felt grateful to this creature, who had saved his life when he was so close to death. He felt a deep sense of devotion to her, as if he would do anything to protect her in return. As Nerissa pulls Joe through the water, he catches glimpses of her long purple hair flowing behind her like ribbons in the ocean currents. He is mesmerized by her otherworldly beauty, and despite the danger he is in, he finds himself entranced by her. With each stroke of her powerful tail, she propels them forward through the water. Joe can feel the strength in her muscles as she pulls him along, her body lithe and graceful in the water. He feels safe with her, protected by her in this strange and unfamiliar world. Despite the pressure building in his chest and the darkness creeping at the edges of his vision, telling him they are going down and deeper. As Joe is being dragged deeper and deeper into the ocean, he starts to feel a sense of panic rising in him. He's never been a strong swimmer, and the idea of being so far from the surface of the water is terrifying to him. But then, he remembers how close to death he was just moments before, and the fact that this beautiful creature saved him. It's like something clicks inside of him, and he realizes that his life is now hers. As he looks at her, he can't help but be in awe of her beauty. Her long purple hair flows around her, framing her face in a way that makes him feel like he's in a dream. He can't believe that he's actually seeing a real-life mermaid, let alone being held in her embrace. But as he looks deeper into her eyes, he sees something there that he can't quite place. It's like there's a whole other world inside of her, one that he's never seen before. In that moment, Joe knows that he's utterly in love with this mermaid. He doesn't care what she does to him or where she takes him; all he knows is that he wants to be with her. As she continues to pull him deeper, he lets himself go completely, surrendering to whatever experience she has in store for him. As she leans in to give him another breath with the Mer-kiss, he feels a rush of energy as the oxygen floods his body. It's like he's been reborn, his body surging with new life. He opens his eyes and looks up at her, her features illuminated by the the glow coming from specs of bioluminescent freckles. He reaches up to touch her face, his fingers tracing the curves of her cheekbones and the softness of her skin. In that moment, he is utterly and completely in love with her. He knew he had been given a second chance at life, and he was determined to make the most of it. As they enter the cave, Nerissa can feel the rush of air against her face, the sensation of relief washing over her. They have made it, they are safe. She can see Madissa ahead of her, holding the seemingly lifeless man with black hair in her arms. Nerissa feels a surge of pride and relief, knowing that they have saved these humans, brought them back from the brink of death. She looks down at the human man she has saved, still clinging to her tightly, and she can feel a sense of connection, of empathy for these land-dwellers who have found themselves in such perilous waters. Joe's body was exhausted from the struggle against the rip current, and his mind was reeling from the surreal experience of being saved by a mermaid. As Nerissa swam with him towards the entrance of the cave, he couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the world beneath the surface of the water. Once inside the small cave, Joe's eyes immediately fell upon Bryan, the marine biologist he had been studying under. Despite his fatigue, he felt a sense of duty to help his friend, but as he swam towards Bryan, a wave of exhaustion washed over him. He allowed himself to float in the water, feeling his body succumb to the weariness that had built up over the past few minutes. As Joe's body slowly drifts into a peaceful slumber, his mind is consumed with thoughts of the mermaid who saved him. He can't shake the image of her purple hair swaying in the water as she effortlessly dragged him to safety. He's filled with a sense of awe and gratitude towards her, and a strange, foreign feeling begins to stir within him: love. He's never felt so drawn to someone, never felt so connected to another being. As he succumbs to the exhaustion and sleep claims him, his last conscious thoughts are of her and the wondrous, magical world he's been thrust into.Chapter 114 More Secrets. It dawned on her that they might not fully understand the significance of the special dish she had prepared for them earlier. In her culture, this dish was traditionally made for groom-pair to eat at the wedding feast. By accepting and eating the dish, the groom-pair would be acknowledging the bride as their mate. In a legal sense, they were already mated temporarily for a year, during which the pod would determine if they were a good fit. They had the option to recommit permanently at the end of the year, or if a child was born or conceived during that time, the mating would become legally binding when the child was born. However, given their short time together, Aziza wasn't sure if Trent and Hunter, her bonded mermen, would still feel the same about her later. She knew they were both honorable and would take care of her if a child was born, but she didn't want them to feel obligated. So she thought perhaps it best if they used
Chapter 113 Last Night In LuxuryWith the old weight unhooked and pushed aside, Trent grasped the metal cords anchoring the air bladder to the weight and began to lift. The two counterweights were supposed to balance each other, ensuring buoyancy while underwater. However, it seemed a little heavy, and he planned to discuss this with Tritan later to get his input on the matter. Despite that, Trent knew his work was done for now."Good! Because I saved you dinner. Everyone else already ate, and I told them you were busy," Hunter informed Trent through their bondlink. "Aziza and I are waiting for you."As he prepared to head back, Hunter's message reached him through their bondlink. Trent smiled at the thoughtfulness of his bondmate and thanked him. Feeling a renewed eagerness, he swiftly swam back to The Serpent's Blood inn, where Aziza awaited them.Trent's heart warmed at the gesture and the camaraderie he shared with his companion
Chapter 112 Air, A Commodity Later, Trent finds himself entering the black market alone, heading towards the specific shop where they inquired about a restricted item the previous day. The merchant, known for dealing in new Atlantian military-restricted items, had mentioned that he had what they were looking for, but it wasn't kept in the shop. Trent navigates the hidden and unsavory place, a black market that can provide anything you need, even if it's hard to find elsewhere. However, what sets this black market apart from others and puts Trent at ease is the absence of one despicable thing he couldn't stand witnessing – slavery. There's no hint of such terrible activity here, which allows Trent to focus on his mission without worry. As Trent reaches the end of the hallway, he turns left into the shop he seeks. Inside, the shelves are filled with crates containing various weapons, including lazerarms, light spears, crystal induction daggers, and other items restr
Chapter 111 Last Day To RelaxAs the bright white waylights illuminated the underwater city of Watch Point, the group gathered at the little eatery near the statue. Markous and Lucious hovered in the line to get food, while Marine kept the table clear, waiting for the rest of the group. Soon, the whole group arrived, and they all sat at the table to eat. Tritan briefly explained that they would be leaving the morning after next, having to wait one more day for the custom sword to be made. After enjoying their meal and engaging in pleasant conversation, Bryan leaned forward and addressed the group, "I've already found the perfect place to get the rest of our provisions. There's a reputable merchant named Fintar, not far from here, who specializes in supplying adventurers like us with high-quality gear and tools for underwater journeys."The group's eyes lit up with interest, and Joe nodded in approval. "That sounds great, Bryan. Lead the way, and we'll follow you to Fintar's shop," he
Chapter 110 The ForgeAs Tritan, Finrir, and Naida approached the end of the alley, they were met with a sight that captured their attention—a large shop with no front wall, only a bar-like counter stretching from one end to the other, leaving the interior visible and open. Beyond the counter lay a bustling work area where four skilled mermen were diligently crafting their creations around a central wall. The wall, not perfectly round but built around a natural formation, exuded an aura of rugged elegance. It extended around the back like an irregular well, with the mermen moving gracefully amidst their craft, adding an artistic touch to the workshop's ambiance. Two windows were meticulously cut into the wall, and each window's sill extended out a foot, supported by a large anvil stone. This unique design left a square foot area with high sides around each window, which then rose and joined in an arch at the top, forming a tunnel-like extension that stretched out a foot, also supporte
Chapter 109 The Arms Alley Finrir swims around the circular market, his eyes carefully scanning each alley until they finally lock onto something of interest down the alley directly behind a grand statue standing tall in the center of the market. Eager to share his discovery, he swiftly swims back to Tritan and signs, "I found it, it's this way."Tritan can't help but grin playfully, his curiosity piqued by Finrir's excitement. Naida's eyes also light up with anticipation as they both join in the chase, following Finrir through the bustling market. With each stroke, they navigate the narrow alleyways, passing by various stalls offering an array of goods, ranging from colorful trinkets to delectable underwater delicacies.Finrir leads them down the alley, never pausing for a moment, while Tritan and Naida eagerly keep up the pace. They pass a series of weapon shops along the way, each displaying the usual assortment of tridents, spears, harpoons, and sleek metal armor. Tritan briefly
