“Yeah…and she is being dealt with inside…” The reminder made my throat constrict. Dealt with? The memory from last night replayed in my head and I shook Tiana off. "Wh…" She looked up to see my icy eyes. “You don't need to worry about me at all. Don't be mad, I am fine now…” The bitch! Unclasping her hands, I pushed her away and turned only to see a masked girl with a Pixie cut staring back at me. A masked girl? Looking right into the holes in her mask, I could see her eyes were red rimmed. She had been crying. She was covered up and there was no skin exposed.

Alyssa let down the mirror in front of her seat and stared at her reflection on it. Like she had expected, her eyes were red and puffy from the tears she bad been holding back since she left the house. She brought out a tissue from her bag and used to dab the tears from the corner of her eyes. Then, she brought out her small make up kit and retouched her make-up. After she was done, she didn't look like someone that was about to burst into tears anymore. The make up and fake smile on her face did a good job in concealing her inner pain and disappointment. She turned to face Aidne who had been watching her quietly all through.

I laid down to bed and closed my eyes, I'm in that position when Gun suddenly sat on the bed and kiss me on the forehead, I think he thought that I was already sleeping, for me not to be able to notice I moved a bit and pretended to face the other side of the bed, I can't help myself but smile like a fool, I heard he stood up and walked down, I sat in the bed and wiped the tears on my eyes. “I miss you so much it's killing me. Please, my love. Just talk to me.” She froze, but she didn't pull away immediately. Her gaze dropped to his hand on her arm. Her breath hitched, a tiny sound in the quiet hallway. For one single second, the mask cracked. Her lips trembled. Her eyes began to shine with tears; she was fighting with everything she had. Then the mask slammed back into place. She pulled her arm away sharply, as if his touch had burned her, and stepped back into the shadows of her room, shutting the door.

My throat is starting to ache from all of the tears. "I would've stopped him if you-" "I know." I sniff. I can't listen to him tell me the reality. "We should leave..." He says. I slowly nod and started to fix my dress. Liam takes my mask and ties it back around my face. I admire how gentle he is being. I caught my reflection in the glass when we approach the door. My mascara is streaked down my cheeks, peeking from under the mask. My hair is messy and needs brushed. I hope nobody pays attention to it.

He smiles warmly at me “ I’m sure you had your reason for that, whatever it is” Tears threaten to spill from my eyes. I lift up my eyes, fanning my eyes with my hands , willing the tears to stay away but I fail. One lone tear escapes and before I know it, I am bawling in my father’s arms. He holds me as I cry, lightly patting me on the back. When I raise my head, the makeup artist does not look too pleased. If looks could kill... She grudgingly touches up my face. Maria and Mr. Hernandez come in just as she is finishing and the make up artist warns, “ no more tears , please”

“Why are you crying? I’m just teasing you.” “I thought you people attend these gatherings to fool around?” the masked man pulled back and kept a safe distance between them. His heart ached when he saw the tears in her eyes. “You can play all you want. I don’t care” Amanda said in her low voice while removing her mask. “But you must remember this face, young master Mills” she revealed her red face with full of tears. “Because this is the face that would despise you forever” she said with gritted teeth.

Lauren hesitated, eyeing the mask in my hand, “is it okay to wear it now? Won’t it hurt your skin?” I didn’t respond. Instead, my eyes drifted to the mirror across the room, standing at the far edge near the wall. I turned my head slowly… and saw myself. There, just below my right eye, a large square of white plaster covered the worst of the wound. The edges were faintly pink. I could still feel the sting of where the scissors had torn the skin. My lips were split, one corner swollen. Faint bruises formed under the surface, slowly darkening.

I squinted, wiping the tears from my face with the back of my hand. He turned his head just slightly, then pulled his surgical mask down. And I froze. My entire body turned to ice. It was him. Him.

My fingers shook a little as I opened the file. Inside was a mask. A sexy black mask made of soft lace and shiny silk. It would cover the eyes and upper face but leave the mouth and jaw free. Delicate black lace patterns swirled around the eye holes like dark flowers. Small shiny crystals sparkled at the edges under the street light. Thin black ribbons waited to tie at the back of the head. It looked mysterious and dangerous. The kind of mask strippers wore when they wanted to hide their identity but show everything else.
