I was at a party where everyone I knew had disappeared into business discussions or social obligations. "I apologize." Matteo's voice turned warm and charming. "I started on a bad note, but I'm actually not that terrible once you get to know me." He extended his hand. "Let's start over. Hi, I'm Matteo, son of Roberto and Estelle, born and raised in Monaco. Mateo remained silent. “Wait.. I could tell by the way he carried himself that he was a few years older than me at least in his mid-twenties. He was tall, like taller than most basketball players, he had broad shoulders and judging by his muscular physique he mostly likely worked out every day. He has light green eyes and his hair was dark brown and he was also sporting a thick beard. I usually wasn't into guys with beards but on him, it just made him look even sexier. "Mate!" He growled as if he was some type of wild animal. "Alex, what's a mate?" Melissa asked from behind me.

He states he had no grudges with anyone and I would be inclined to believe him….” he trailed off. “You think there's something you’re missing,” I ventured, somehow I felt able to read him more clearly than before. Being with him most of the time these days made Matthias’personality clearer to me. He didn't like to be uncertain about anything. He was the type to get to the bottom of things whether it was good or bad. He didn't like open loops.

Gia teased. Matteo shrugged. “Maybe,” he said nonchalantly. "What kind of answer is that?” Gia protested. “It’s the best one I can give. Trust me, you don’t want the details.” Gia scowled, feeling like Matteo’s answer explained nothing. She wondered if he was a heartbreaker like Caius or if women flocked to him as they did to Raven. Matteo’s calm demeanor made it hard for her to guess his relationship approach.

I replied automatically, but there was no real bite to my words. He left, and I sat back in my chair, rubbing my temples. Matteo was a wildcard, no doubt about it. He had potential, sure, but he also had a knack for skating by on charm and instinct. It was frustrating. And yet, there was something about him—something I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
