She could barely accept Matthias, who was sometimes evil, sometimes good, but she had no idea how to befriend someone who was entirely up to no good. Matthias’ bad qualities even seemed to be a positive thing in front of this man. Heather had an ominous feeling as she could not feel any kindness from him, whose powerful air had already annoyed her.

The steak actually looks quite good. “Vivianne, I want you to go into town. There is someone very important I need you to find.” I look up at Papa and swallow the bite I had just taken. “Of course. Tell me the details.” A folder is placed on the table beside me. I open it slowly. There is no name listed, only a photograph of a woman in her early forties or fifties. She has features that remind me of someone from Egypt. “This woman needs to be brought back to me. She owes me a debt — and your mother, too. I also suspect she may be involved in whatever happened to Nova.”

I lift his arms and throw them around my neck before picking him up. "Matthew you're 12 years old already, and shouldn't be beat so easily. What I was your age I could beat Dad within minutes." I say whole carrying him to the clinic while Jonah, my beta and best friend, takes over training the other non-shifted pack members. "I know Rye, I'll work extra hard I promise" he sniffled with a nod

"I don't mind you drooling over me. I'm Matthew. Matthew Wilson. You can call me Matt for short." He says with an amused smile on his face. He smiles a lot for someone who just ripped a wolf's head apart from like it was a rag doll of some sort. This just proves the phrase 'you can't judge a book by its cover'. Wait. Why does his name sound so familiar, she thinks to herself.

I found myself questioning. “Just wondered if you were okay?” He asked, a little tentative with his words, which in itself was unusual for him. Matthew Martinez was a confident and cocky guy. Bold and arrogant, as an Alpha should be. Yet at the same time he had the ability to be kind and fun too. The kind of guy people wanted to be around. Always had been since being a kid. That was the side of him I preferred. But the uncertainty in his question didn’t sit right with me. “Why would I not be?” I threw a question right back, and he chuckled.

I had a feeling being labelled as crazy would be a lot harder to come back from, so as much as I was beginning to enjoy her running commentary, I knew I had to shield myself and keep her locked out until I got my pills! "Are you truly a virgin?" I heard Matteo ask, and my heart all but stopped. How the heck did he know that? I had hardly acted like the innocent virgin! Which was part of my plan; I read books, and so I knew what men like him wanted in a partner... sweet, innocent, pure! Not loud, crass and opinionated. And if Matteo's actions this morning at breakfast had taught me anything, it was evident that he was the biggest and the baddest amongst those he surrounded himself with.

"Should be one of the kids the debtor brought over, Probably forgot this one. Richard's men didn't finish the job." He looked down at me, his eyes devoid of anything resembling a soul. "Hmm. A leftover from the Mann family's mess. Interesting." He reached down, offering a hand to help me up. "Hi, kiddo. My name is Matthias. Don Matthias." I didn't take the hand. I looked at the blood on his friend’s sleeve and the coldness in his eyes. "Where is my brother?" I spat, the words fueled by a sudden, jagged hate. "Where is everyone? You’re evil people. You’re all evil!"
