They say whoever opens it risks being cursed forever.” “I already opened it,” I said dryly, flicking the cover shut with a soft thump. “And I’m fine.” Norma looked horrified. “That’s exactly what they all say before lightning strikes and a thousand skeletons start tap dancing in their basement.” That finally pulled a laugh out of me. I couldn’t help it. Norma crossed her arms. “It’s not funny. The name ‘Maximus the Fallen’ isn’t some bedtime story.” My humor faded just a little. I glanced back at the book. Maximus the Fallen.

In the end, it made him go insane. However, these were all just people’s hypotheses, so they were not accurate. That was the whole arson incident in Red Society Pharmacy. After Birch watched the news, he frowned. He did not know what to say. He felt heartbroken because Red Society Pharmacy had been destroyed by the fire, but the culprits had been immediately arrested. Maxima became insane and Emmanuel died. That healed his wounded heart. Therefore, he was actually not that sad now. Naturally, the most critical thing was that although Red Society Pharmacy was destroyed, all the valuable medical books that had been passed down from his ancestors were conserved.

As soon as he got to Alexander's house, he began shivering, so much so that even Alexander could sense the uneasiness coming from him. "Where is the book I asked you to get for me?" Alexander asked. she greeted Maximus who stood outside her room and wondered what he could possibly want from her so early in the morning. Realizing that her room was in view and she had not yet tidied it, she quickly pulled the door to herself and felt embarrassed immediately. “What brings you here?” she asked awkwardly. “Well,” Maximus said and stretched a book towards her. “Remus couldn’t give this to you himself so he said I should bring it.” “Ah,” Marianne said with a laugh as she took the book from him. “And you brought it immediately. That too, this early.” Maximus blinked and said, “I must have disturbed your sleep. I apologize.”

Maximus studied the map of his territory, frowning when he saw the tiniest details that the hunters seemed to know about them. “I’m guessing this is how you gained access to my land without anyone seeing you?” Star nodded. “There’s a lot more information in that book that can help them.” Maximus walked around his table and took a seat on his chair, motioning for her to do the same. “Supposing the information in that book is true, giving it to them would only put me at a disadvantage, what do you plan to do about that?” He leaned backward, interested to hear how she planned to outsmart a group of hunters.

I whisper. “Why did you slam your book?” Max asked. The smirk on his face tells me he has an idea of what happened. “Kendra recommended this book to me. It is a little more explicit than I was expecting,” I explained. “Can I read it?” Max reaches for the book. My bookmark is on the page. Before I can process what is happening. Max is reading the passage. “He is only kissing her neck,” Max states. I nod. Max seems puzzled, “That’s explicit to you?”

Maxim led her to a short hallway with windows on the left and a single door on the right. Maxim opened up the door and revealed a modern architecture library. The walls were lined floor to ceiling with black shelves full of books. The flooring was concrete with a charcoal colored plush rug in the center. Atop the rug were two gray sofas and a black lacquered coffee table in between. On the left and right walls were two arches. The one on the right led to an office with a matching interior, and the archway on the left had teal curtains hiding the contents of the room.

Leilani’s eyes sparkled in delight. “Indeed,” Luster agreed with a smile. “There’s some old books here as well!” Maximus exclaimed from the other side of the room. When I chance a look at it, there was a small bookshelf on the floor right next to the bed. There were some old, thick books there which I have no doubt would not interest me. But Maximus loves reading every kind of book, so it’s a treasure to him.

We wave goodbye as she walks away. Further up the road, we find a luxurious hotel. It’s eight stories high. It has a large fountain out the front with lily flowers floating in the water. A man in a suit greets us and opens the door for us. A strong fragrance smell hits us as we enter to see flowers in large vases. The sitting area is luxurious, with red velvet chairs and mahogany furniture. We approach the front desk, where an older gentleman serves us. Alpha Maximus pays for a week in advance. He takes the key, and we step into the elevator, arrive at the top floor, and enter our room.
