“And this city belongs to me and your grandfather,” Damon reminded him, his tone ironclad. “Her husband is mayor only because we permitted it, and I could strip him of that position with a single word.”
Kael’s eyes widened, his jaw dropping slightly before determination lit his features. “Then I want to be mayor!” he exclaimed.
A rich laugh rumbled from my chest as I ruffled his hair, pride swelling within me. “Aim higher, my boy. No title carries more weight in this city than Solace. Always remember that.”
