“On your mark, get set... enter!” Kit didn’t have time to think about anything else as she shot off into the maze as quick as she could go. She was wearing sensible shoes for once in her life. They were boots with a small heel on them which should help her if she encountered any mud, though she noted as soon as she entered the maze that the groundskeepers had done their best to dry out the ground within the walls of the labyrinth. She was running on a bed of wood chips. A sharp cedar odor hit her nostrils, and she hoped she didn’t start to sneeze. There was a chance she may need to hide at some point, and sneezing wouldn’t do.

The moment Eliana stepped into the maze, she understood that this place was not meant to be navigated—it was meant to confuse, divide, and expose. The walls rose high on either side of them, made of a dark stone that seemed to absorb light instead of reflecting it. The Glacier forest, as its name suggested, was land covered in ice, while most of it was forested not all over it was a forest, and not all of it was covered in ice. There were multiple lava lakes that housed fire and earth type energy beast and plants. The sect built it into the mountain's lower face — a formation-carved labyrinth that floods with condensed Ki pressure at random intervals, meant to test whether a candidate's body and spirit can handle sustained hostile energy without collapsing. Officially, you pass by reaching the exit. Unofficially, you pass by not getting carried out on a stretcher, which happens to roughly one in eight candidates based on the exit crowd I observe from the Trial Two staging area.
