Meanwhile, Luke and Melika were in another car with Ray, Irene, and Lola. "They must be having a good dream." Zurin broke the silence. He was so meticulous. How did he notice my action? "They must be. They had a lot of fun today." I replied, focusing my gaze back ahead. I could see Ray's car clearly, though it was tinted in black. Well, even in darkness, we could still spot them since we have heightened senses. "What do you think about their dream?" "I don't know. Maybe, running and laughing while riding a merry-go-round."

Absolutely not. I throw my hair into a messy bun and changed into my shorts and tank top. The guys and Aphrodite will meet me at the field. I'm not in a hurry so I just walk... Slowly towards my doom. When I get to the field Paxton and Orion is standing in the middle of the field. They're training and from what I can see they're equally matched. Each landing blows and kicks left and right. Paxton goes to swing on Orion. Orion in a blink of an eye disappears and is 20 feet from Paxton.

Just the road, the trees, and the man beside me. "We’re going to be okay, aren't we?" I asked. Roman reached over, interlacing his fingers with mine, and squeezed. "We're more than okay, Scar. We're free." We drove toward the mountains, toward a life that didn't have a title or a price tag. The Reed ruins were behind us, and for the first time, I wasn't waiting for a director to tell me what happens next.

Understandable; it's the most dangerous one and the one I should watch out for the most. “I'm sure you all are eager to start the trials but this time, things will be different as I was informed last night,” he says Different how? “Different how, you must be wondering” he says, looking right at me. What the fuck. “You,” he turns and points to a girl on the other side of the arena, a beta judging her aura, “remind me, what are the trials you'll be expected to complete in the Moonborn trials?” “The Trial of Fangs, the Howl Run, Echo of the Moon, the Wall, and the Hunt,” she says.

“What’s life without a little danger, Pack Dog? Keeps things… interesting.” The team pushes through, sweat-slicked and breathing hard - silver spikes erupting from the floor, forcing Torin to leap; a pressure blast knocking Mara back until Reed hauls her clear; a shimmering ward net that snares Keira, her claws shredding it as I slice the anchoring runes with my dagger. The ruins test us relentlessly, magic old and vicious, but we move as one, my rogue instincts meshing with pack precision.

He held his phone and watched the video all night long. The next morning, when he looked in the mirror, he saw a man who looked like a vagrant—unshaven, haggard, and lifeless. He stared at his own reflection and muttered bitterly, "You deserve this." … On the day of my wedding, all my college classmates showed up, including Tristan. At first, I was worried he would cause trouble again. I didn't want to be disturbed by him anymore. Even with my good temper, I couldn't stand being constantly tangled up in his drama.

Snow had fallen overnight, covering the ground in white. It wouldn’t stay clean for long. “Three trials. Combat, strategy, and leadership. Pass two out of three, you’re Beta. Fail two, you’re out.” He looked at me like I was already out. “Begin.” *Trial 1: Combat* First opponent: Darek. Scar Eye. The beta who tried to drag me back two weeks ago. He stepped into the ring with a grin, rolling his shoulders. “You think one lucky hit makes you a warrior, mutt?”

This time scanning in minutely different spots. Still nothing. I sigh and rub my head. Maybe he's wrong. Maybe they've just memorized which one to take. It's a high risk strategy because the stench is disorienting. Graydon steps away from the tunnels back to the centre. As he reaches the centre, he mindlinks, Got it! And whirls around, triumphant.

It wasn’t too deep, but perhaps it would need some stitches. The crowd erupted in cheers as the last spirit beast was taken down. Near Scarlett, Mimbi was panting and trying to hold herself straight. Her hair, which had been perfectly braided just a few moments ago, was filled with sand and blood. “Come forth and drink the draught of embers,” yelled the High Chieftess. There was no time to check wounds or gain strength before the second trial. The trainees formed a line by the pylon. Mimbi got behind Scarlett, smiling at her. The girl in front of her had her armor ripped in the back, and she was almost naked from the waist up.
