My heart hammered against my ribs so hard it physically hurt. I choked down the thick lump of pride in my throat, my hands trembling so violently I could hardly reach into the shopping bag. I caught sight of the garment hidden inside. It was a luxurious, light-blue silk nightgown. It looked lavish and entirely out of my league. I hadn't worn anything this extravagant since I became Mireya. The garment nearly fell from my hand the moment I pulled it from the shopping bag.

I called out, my curiosity piqued. Knock! Knock! No response. I couldn't resist the temptation, so I approached the door and swung it open. And there she stood, Anastasia, a vision of ethereal beauty, draped in a nightgown that left nothing to the imagination.
